Tokyo has always been a hub of high-class populace, and especially some certain sections of the city where one could find the real posh of Japan.
Possessing a nightclub in Tokyo is akin to securing not just one, but potentially generations' worth of financial prosperity.
The place where Ryouya was brought in Kasumi's car was named 'TolkLite', a name from which Ryouya wasn't able to make any sense. Well, of course, he didn't have any intention to tell her that.
This establishment proved to be the swiftest avenue for Ryouya to attain his desires, given its reputation for becoming densely populated during the nocturnal hours. By demonstrating a hint of assertiveness with the female clientele, he believed he could ensure a memorable evening.
'Seriously...I am turning into a scum in no time.'
Upon their entrance, a multitude of eyes got fixated on Ryouya in clusters. It mattered little whether the onlookers were male or female, middle-aged or his contemporaries; they all regarded him with a blend of admiration and envy.
The men yearned for Ryouya's striking appearance and imposing stature, harboring the hope of dating someone as alluring as Kasumi, while the women nurtured a longing to be embraced by him, even if just once.
Ryouya's innate charisma was gradually maturing as he progressed further. He wouldn't require any deliberate effort to draw people towards him; his presence alone would be magnetizing.
"I assume you may not be able to return home tonight." While on the way to the counter where three men were already serving the customers, Kasumi spoke.
She could already envision the immense popularity her nephew would attain in this environment, if only he could engage in engaging conversations with the women who were undoubtedly going to pursue him.
"I need to go back before ten. Mom would get worried." Ryouya had resolved to hail a taxi in case he found himself running late, but spending the night away from home was an absolute no-go. He had never stayed over at a friend's place before.
"Hmm~I will handle that, now you focus on the work." Upon arriving at the counter, a bartender with flowing red waves of hair emerged from the rear exit, making his way over to the pair.
His composed demeanor and the adept manner in which he carried himself left no doubt that he was a seasoned veteran in the field.
"Kasumi-san, long time no see." Hugging her lightly he greeted the woman before Kasumi replied casually, "Just been busy with new projects."
The man nodded in understanding while Ryouya glanced around the place.
Though the lighting cast a warm and subdued ambiance, he managed to discern precise details of the establishment. An assortment of sofas and tables lined the periphery, while a vacant expanse at the center of the club was sure to be swiftly occupied.
Given that it was merely six in the evening, the present crowd consisted of individuals seeking to relish their beverages and engage in congenial conversations with friends and acquaintances. The true nightlife, as he knew, would commence after nine.
"So he is the one you talked about over the phone." In response to the voice directed towards him, Ryouya swiveled his head, only to discover that both adults had fixed their gaze upon him.
Kasumi's gaze held a teasing glint, while the redheaded bartender appeared to be scrutinizing him with a thoughtful demeanor.
"Hmm, his looks and build are perfect for a bartender but does he know even the basics of this job?"
Ryouya wasn't surprised for some reason that the redhead, who seemed to be the manager of the place, didn't object to Ryouya being a teenager yet came to work at a place that was filled with alcohol.
Illegal drinking is a trend now...or maybe it always has been.
"Umm...I doub-" Before Kasumi could say anything on behalf of Ryouya, he responded honestly
"While I don't know how to make complex cocktails, I surely can prepare the regular ones like negroni, martini, and mojito. Though I cannot do those funny tricks the bartenders perform, I am confident in my precise measurements to prepare a decent drink."
Indeed, while Ryouya hadn't personally prepared any of the drinks he had just mentioned, it didn't imply that he lacked the knowledge to do so.
Working for Kasumi was the last option Ryouya had kept in his diary if some dire situation arose. The pay was enough for Ryouya to handle his schooling and living expenses and even help with the household budget.
Hence, Ryouya dedicated significant time to studying countless videos and consulting numerous individuals online in pursuit of honing his skills without venturing into practical experience.
And as per what the system said, as long he could spike someone's drink with his saliva, he knew they would love it.
Though it would be difficult with the men...
Kasumi regarded Ryouya with a sense of astonishment, while the man appeared somewhat skeptical yet undeniably intrigued by Ryouya's determination.
"Well, why not we run a test then?" Glancing at Kasumi he asked for her assent which she gave, albeit a little hesitant.
Kasumi, more than anyone, was well aware of how sheltered and disciplined Ryouya's character was. Her regular conversations with her sister, Aiko, provided insights into Ryouya's typical conduct, confirming that he remained away from anything illegal for his age.
Despite her initial reservations, Ryouya's evident confidence in his abilities prompted Kasumi to refrain from expressing any reluctance as they made their way towards the counter.
Meanwhile, with Ryouya...
'Shit...I never anticipated this....' While he pulled the bottles of tequila and Cointreau from the counter, Ryouya felt his anxiety elevating.
Kasumi and the man sat directly across from him, their undivided attention firmly fixed on Ryouya, eagerly anticipating his first drink.
[Just follow your instincts and add the perfect ratio of everything. I am sure you will rock it!]
The encouragement from the System made him smile slightly as Ryouya began preparing a classic margarita.
Carefully measuring lemon juice, tequila, and Cointreau in precise quantities, Ryouya added ice cubes, aided by the redhead in locating them. He then sealed the lid and commenced shaking the container.
Taking two short glasses he stroked the lime in a half arc and began rubbing the lime-coated side in the salt which was spread on a plate. Upon completion, he affixed a slender lime slice to one side of the glass and skillfully poured the prepared drink from the container.
"Hmmm...not bad."
Observing the adept preparation and a lack of amateurish fumbling, the manager nodded in approval. He and Kasumi then each took the drink and enjoyed their first sips.
Kasumi's eyes widened slightly in pleasant surprise, as she hadn't anticipated such a superb drink. Her initial concern about hiring and training Ryouya dissipated, for it was clear he possessed an innate talent for the craft.
However, the other one had a different opinion as he spoke in a stern yet comfortable tone, "The lime was more than enough, and ice was added in a little too moderation. The balance of tequila was also a little off, but overall I would give it a six out of ten."
Kasumi glared at the man for giving such harsh reviews to which the latter raised his hand and said, "I was just being honest. He cannot please a customer if he sours their mood from the get-go."
Despite the words, Kasumi didn't retract her stern gaze which ushered Ryouya to dispel the heavy atmosphere, "He's right, I need to work on it."
Kasumi sighed at her nephew's forgiving nature but then again, it was all good until she could have Ryouya working for her.
After finishing the drink, Kasumi finally voiced the final words which decided whether Ryouya got appointed or not.
"Take him in Ryuuji, and help him become a top-class bartender as soon as you can."
Naturally, when the lady had spoken, there was little room for dissent. Thus, the man known as Ryuuji nodded in agreement and casually draped his arm over Ryouya's shoulder.
"Welcome to the team, Ryouya-kun. I wish we can get along well."
Ryouya beamed with a smile at that before he nodded in agreement.
Finally, Ryouya now has a possible route to keep on surviving. Though it was easier said than done, he at least could gain some cash to support his family.
'Never thought I would end up here...but well.'
