章 96: Chapter 95: A mission

(3rd Person's POV)

The tumultuous battle had left Melusine pondering her wild nature, unsure if it was pure hatred or merely an instinctual drive for freedom, typical of a dragon.

"Use your head and learn while fighting."

What she once deemed a plump and repulsive figure turned out to be a seasoned warrior. Initially interpreting Morgan's husband's actions as spiteful, Melusine realized during the fight that he intended to impart a valuable lesson.

And indeed, she learned.

"Cough…" Melusine coughed up blood, gazing at the starlit sky. A spear was embedded in her chest, narrowly missing her heart/core. Despite the searing pain, an unfamiliar feeling surged within her. Was it satisfaction or perhaps happiness?

"So, you're still alive," Morgan's husband approached, grasping his spear. "I'll ask you one last time. Do you still despise humans? Will you be a problem for them? If so, Morgan doesn't need you. I need a warrior for Morgan, not an obstacle."

Melusine smiled at the threat. She didn't hate humans; she despised their weakness. Yet, if a human like Morgan's husband could stand up to her, she was willing to show respect.

"Milord…" Melusine addressed Morgan's husband with the title Morgan used, a sign of respect. "Will I ever be able to spread my wings like today?"

"Yes, you will. I can take you to face stronger foes, if you wish."

It was all Melusine needed to hear.

"Then… let this dragon follow you too, milord." With those words, Melusine closed her eyes.

(Titus's (Lot's) POV)

Carrying a naked dragon girl in my arms, I felt something.

Hey, keep your thoughts on track, alright? I mean sure she is a waifu or something but I meant her physique, not anything else.

Melusine might have the appearance of a petite 16-year-old girl, but her physique was unique. She possessed a slender yet sturdy frame, with the ability to shape her bones into weapons.

'And she has a vagina too. I wonder why…' I pondered. Perhaps I should conduct some examinations on her physical form.

In Lostbelt 6, Melusine transformed into a calamity. If this Melusine shared the same trait, it could pose a problem.

Upon reaching the castle, I spotted Morgan seated outside, sporting an irritated expression.

'Damn, I forgot about her!' I cursed my forgetfulness.

I had been so engrossed in the fight that I'd completely overlooked Morgan waiting for me.

"You're late," she remarked, folding her arms and fixing her gaze on mine.

"I... I'm sorry," I stammered, devoid of any excuse.

With a sigh, Morgan diverted her gaze to my arms. "So, is she alive?"

"Yes," I confirmed.

Morgan's relief was evident, and I was glad to see her display a caring side toward Melusine, considering Morgan was the one who had saved her.

"I apologize, Milord. I should have instructed her better."

"It's not your fault, Morgan," I reassured her, offering a gentle smile as I affectionately patted Morgan's hand. "We'll train her together now. It'll be a good opportunity for you to practice being a mother to our child."

Morgan blushed, nodding in agreement. And with that, the night came to a close.

---

It was another day, but the sky resounded with endless explosions, shockwaves wreaking havoc in every direction. The chaos persisted for a few minutes until, abruptly, everything came to a stop. A solitary figure descended from the sky, landing gracefully on the surface below.

Melusine's wings vanished, as did her dark claws and legs, and in their place, a beautiful blue dress materialized, adorning her with a graceful elegance. Simultaneously, the terrain within the barrier began to transform, as if the prior destruction had never occurred.

Approaching me, Melusine bowed with poise. "Thank you, Milord, for sparring with me. I am truly grateful."

"Haha! As long as you can learn and maintain your wild nature, I'm happy to use my strength for good," I laughed, affectionately petting Melusine.

"Um~!" Melusine beamed with a childlike happiness.

Despite the rapid progress in acquiring grace and ladylike manners over the week, she remained internally immature. According to Melusine herself, it would take at least a thousand years for her to mature fully.

Morgan and I had placed some seals within her body, ensuring that I had no reason to fear Melusine transforming into a calamity.

"Hey, Melusine! Don't get too full of yourself!" Artoria, who had been observing our fight from a distance, approached with a grumpy expression.

"Eh, Artoria? Why do you look so mad?"

"Call me big sister. And how many times do I have to tell you not to get close to unkie? You're a hundred years too early to be unkie's wife."

"Wife? Artoria, I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Call me big sister."

"No. A dragon shall not recognize someone weaker than them."

"I'm a dragon too!"

I sighed and petted their heads. "Alright, calm down. Go on and practice your skills first. If either of you slacks off, you won't be attending the feast."

At the mention of the word 'feast,' both dragon girls lit up with excitement.

"Let's go, little girl. Today, your big sister will show you the real strength of a dragon."

"I am a proud dragon. Do not call me little girl."

And so, the two dragon girls departed, and the echoes of explosions resumed. Fortunately, I didn't need to worry about anything. The barrier, strategically placed some distance from Camelot, would reverse the terrain every 30 minutes.

Just then, two kids sprinted towards me.

"Your majesty, you were so cool!" exclaimed an 8-year-old with a tall, muscular build and pure white hair.

"Your majesty, how did you become so strong?" asked a relatively shorter kid around the same age, with silver hair and an introverted look.

They were none other than the soon-to-be Knights of the Round Table, Percival and Galahad. Percival was the son of King Pellinore, Morgan's trusted advisor. As for Galahad, I had adopted him during my travels to Rome for business. Disliking his womanizer father who showed no respect for his deceased mother, he ran away. When I proposed the idea of becoming a knight, he agreed instantly.

"Haha! Practice well, you two. I'm sure you'll become much stronger than me," I laughed, ruffling their hair. Percival beamed with a cheery smile, while Galahad nodded, his cheeks turning crimson.

Now, you might wonder why I didn't gather the other Knights of the Round Table, right?

The answer is straightforward—most of them didn't exist because I didn't 'create' them.

Gawain, Agravain, Gaheris, and Gareth were the children of King Lot and Morgan, but in this reality, I chose not to create them. I had my reasons – no ruthless assassins or gorillas for children with my wife. Morgan wasn't going after Artoria, so Mordred was also out of the question.

As for the others, Tristan and Lancelot were not options. Morgan would only be depressed in Tristan's presence, and there was no way I would allow Lancelot anywhere near my wife. I wouldn't let a wife-stealer near Morgan—okay, Tamamo's case was different.

Bedivere refused to serve Morgan due to her strict rule, which, unlike Artoria's benevolence, didn't align with his sense of justice. Only Kay, Artoria's foster brother in the Arthurian legend, was part of Morgan's rule.

I couldn't find any others worthy of inclusion. So, I decided to admit Percival and Galahad to Morgan's army since they were the only ones with good heads on their shoulders. Percival liked children like me and had an overall good personality. His quest for Kundry would be epic, unless he would go for Melusine, as in Lostbelt. He would also be a valuable unit, supporting Morgan's army.

As for Galahad, being the strongest of the Round Table, he would undoubtedly contribute to Morgan's rule. In the original timeline, he was the one exposed to the OG Holy Grail, so I knew I didn't mistake his abilities. After using my Odin's Eye, I was certain that both of them would be, if not stronger, at least as formidable as their original counterparts.

Having sent the kids away, I entered the meeting room, finding Morgan and numerous individuals seated around a table.

"You're late, brat!" Uther Pendragon glared at me. He was part of Morgan's ruling system. Despite losing an arm, his commanding presence remained formidable. He also mentored young knights.

"Oh, come on. I'm the Queen's husband. Cut me some slack, Sir father-in-law," I chuckled, teasingly raising my palm. "Give me a high-five. Oh, right, you can't, haha!"

The room erupted in snickers, which only fueled Uther's simmering frustration. Even Morgan couldn't hide her amusement, covering her lips with her hand.

Laughing, I settled into the chair near Morgan. Alongside her at the Round Table sat others like Ector, Artoria's foster father in the original timeline, and his son Kay. A few more individuals had been summoned by Morgan for the meeting.

"Let the meeting commence," Morgan declared, setting the tone for the discussion of her upcoming agenda regarding her rule.

After Morgan's triumphant victory over Camelot, the issue with the Saxons loomed large. Initially, the suggestion was to eradicate every Saxon on the land, but Morgan opposed such an extreme measure, refusing to drown her land in unnecessary bloodshed.

Those who mercilessly slaughtered Britons weren't spared; they faced the gallows. However, Saxons born and raised in Britain, leading peaceful lives, were allowed to live. Morgan segregated them into different areas to prevent them from uniting and potentially sparking rebellion.

Some pledged allegiance to Morgan's army, even wielding their swords against fellow Saxons. Others, deemed slaves, were tasked with rebuilding the country. You might argue against slavery, but in the chaos, it was a grim reality. With my hands full, I couldn't afford the luxury of fighting against this norm, especially when survival outweighed death.

Backlash arose from Britons for Morgan's favoritism toward the Saxons. However, as a tyrant, she eliminated anyone who defied her rule. Nevertheless, she provided homes, shelter, and sustenance for all, earning widespread admiration and encountering minimal resistance, save for some lazy Britons.

Yet, a pressing issue persisted—Roman and Nordic armies continued to harass coastal cities. If Morgan refrained from launching an offensive, the assaults would persist. However, she lacked the time and resources; having just unified the country, her focus was on rebuilding Britain. It would take several more years to assemble proper fleets for a full-scale war against other nations.

"Your Majesty, grant me the right to defend the coasts. I swear to raise my sword to defend this country against those Romans," Sir Kay pleaded earnestly.

While Morgan ruled with a ruthless hand, she had her share of admirers. Kay stood among those who supported Morgan staunchly. Both Kay and Morgan were of the same age, and given Morgan's beauty, I could understand his fondness for my wife. It was a pity he didn't stand a chance, as Morgan would never allow any man near her except for me, haha!

I wasn't fond of other men showing affection for my woman, but Kay was different. He was a good person, having fought numerous battles for Morgan and supported her rule since its inception. As a kind king, I could permit him to admire Morgan for a while. I was fairly confident he would change his mind once I produced an heir for the throne.

"I'll take this on. I'll meet the Roman Emperor and negotiate a treaty with business deals. Since..." I smirked, tossing a gold coin in the air, "I have plenty of money."

Having ruled the Roman Empire alongside Nero, I was well-versed in their politics, regions, and other details. Despite the 400-year difference, I believed I could navigate my way effectively. I then delved into discussing strategies to keep the Romans at bay, leveraging Orkney's reputation for free trade.

"Then I shall grant Mi— I mean, Sir Lot permission to embark on this quest." After deliberation, Morgan gave me the green signal, leaving Kay with no choice but to retreat with a sense of loss.

After everyone departed, I moved behind Morgan and began massaging her shoulders.

"Thank you, Milord. Ah~" Morgan moaned in pleasure. "Although it's a wife's duty to look after her husband."

"A wife also doesn't rule a country," I remarked, encouraging her to relax a bit.

Her expression shifted as she bit her lip, rising from her seat. "Why does Milord conceal his prowess and achievements? Unbeknownst to many, you've been my steadfast support from day one. The world should recognize your exceptional character."

It was true—I'd been dealing with supernatural matters and more behind everyone's back. I'd also been the one to guide Morgan in ruling and provided substantial financial support.

As a proud king, she desired recognition for me in history, but I declined. My name would threaten her reign, overshadowing hers. I couldn't allow that.

I smiled and gently caressed Morgan's face. "I don't seek recognition or achievement. My sole pride, happiness, recognition, and achievement lie in you, Morgan Pendragon. Uniting a country as a woman and a fairy—Morgan, you have no idea how proud I am of you. If I must endure insults for a hundred years, fade into obscurity, I wouldn't mind. For you, I'll do anything to help you rule this country with pride."

Morgan's eyes welled with tears, a mixture of sadness and happiness. "But, Milord..."

I chuckled and wiped away her tears. "Don't worry. You can praise me all you want after you solidify your rule." I kissed her forehead and held her hand. "Now, instead of crying, how about we spend some time together before I leave?"

"Un," Morgan smiled and nodded. Holding hands, we strolled and talked, cherishing the moments together.
