章 2: CHAPTER TWO.
NOAH'S POV.
She had been looking at the heirloom since I started driving and I couldn't help but feel the pain I had foregone years ago.
"Don't think too much, I gave you that so could feel less guilty not so you could open your past wound." I said as I took my eyes off the road to look at her before taking them back.
"I know, but it's just too hard to forego. It's like anything related to what happened back then stirs up the pain." Nikki said wiping her tears.
"You still miss her a lot."
"Of course, she's my twin, you might be able to forget her but I won't be able to forget her so easily."
"I can't imagine how you feel now but you shouldn't cry, dad, mom and little monkey won't be happy seeing you cry, okay?"
"You still call her that?" She said with a smile.
"Well I still call you miss elegance."
"Seriously, when are you ever going to stop calling me that, I was five." She said with more smiles.
"And I don't care."
TORY'S POV.
"Affirmative."
"Who am I then?" I asked her anxiously waiting for a response.
"You're Tory, a girl with a monkey's personality."
"A monkey's personality, how dare you insult me, my personality is nowhere near wild." I said feeling my blood boil in rage.
"Can you say you're a typical example of a girl?"
"Of course."
"Then, if a waist-high fence was here and the other way to get to across the fence is around it, what would you do?"
"Going around the fence is a waste of time, I'll just jump it since it's not high."
"And you call yourself a typical girl."
After she said that, I stared at her for a long time.
"Fine then, say whatever you want, but I need to know other things about myself apart from my monkey's personality."
"Sure."
POLLY'S POV.
Perry has refused to sleep at all, he has being talking to dad since we got here.
Perry was my 13 year old brother with black hair and eyes.
We had recently come from Brazil when uncle Lance told us that dad's condition was getting worse and it'll continue to grow worse if a surgery isn't done immediately.
"Polly, was uncle Lance joking when he said he wouldn't take care of dad's medical bills as from now?" Perry said tearing up.
I left the chair I was sitting on the far edge of the room to where Perry was sitting on dad's hospital bed.
"Polly, uncle Lance has tried a lot for dad. Since dad developed this ailment, uncle Lance has been taking care of dad." I said as I sat down and pat his head.
"Why did he stop now that dad needs him the most?"
"You know grandma just died and uncle Lance is trying his best to stop grandma far relatives from taking her properties. He's losing a lot of money."
"Polly."
"Yes."
"Do you know what I hate most about you?"
I paused, I was so speechless and heartbroken.
"I hate it most when you defend bad people, dad clearly developed his ailment because of uncle Lance, why can't he just return the favor by helping him?" Perry said with despise in his tone.
Tears rolled down my cheeks when I heard him say these words.
Dad had really developed his gas embolism when he had saved uncle Lance from drowning.
I looked at young Perry as he cried out his heart.
He didn't understand much about this world how can I blame him for reacting like that?
I'm thankful uncle Lance had paid dad's fees up till now, I just have to look for a way to get a job so I could pay for dad's surgery.
NIKKI'S POV.
After Noah had forced me to stop looking at the heirloom and feeling sad about everything, I started looking out the window.
It's a habit I developed, anytime I am traveling, I always look out the window but this time I wasn't looking at the window casually.
I was hoping to find something by something I actually mean someone.
We lost her years ago and I had managed to feel less sad until I was reminded of her by the heirloom.
I opened the car's window and closed my eyes letting the soft breeze blow in my face as I sighed relieving myself.
I opened my eyes slowly but immediately opened them widely when I saw a familiar image.
I continued looking at the image but took my hand backwards to tap my brother.
"What is it?" He said.
"Pullover."
"What? Why?"
"I saw something." I said as he pulled over.
"What is it? What did you see?" Noah asked as he brought his head closer to the window next to me to see what I was looking at.
"Her." I said pointing my finger at a girl.
NOAH'S POV.
The girl was wearing a blue polo with a black fleered skirt and black snickers.
She was also wearing a black headphone and she had a black luggage beside her.
I looked at her closely and realized something.
"She looks like you." I said.
"She does." Nikki said immediately after me.
"Let's go."
We came down from the car and started walking towards her.
As we drew closer, Nikki held my arm tightly.
I felt she was really scared because I was too.
"Must I? What am I going to do there?" She said.
"She's on a call, why don't we wait for her in the car?" Nikki said.
I looked at her.
"You've been looking for her for years, why are you scared now?"
I walked to her front and waved my hand to get her attention.
TORY'S POV.
"It's your first mission, the points you'll gain is 4 times more than the subsequent missions." Star said.
"How many points do I exhaust to keep the novel going again?" I said.
"50 points a week."
"Why does it has to be so expensive, aren't you…"
I was interrupted by someone waving at me.
The person was a man, he looked like he was in his late twenties or maybe not.
He had brown hair and eyes and he was wearing a blue turtleneck sweater, jean trousers and blue snicker.
I looked at star and said "Excuse me."
I pulled off the headphone and put it around my neck.
"Can I help you?" I indifferently asked him.
He just smiled and a girl came close to me.
I was freaked out because the girl looked just like me except she didn't have my birthmark.
She had brown hair while mine was black.
She had dimples and I don't.
"Tory?" She said with an anxious look.
"Am I supposed to know you?" I asked stuttering a bit.
She looked down and brought out a necklace from inside the blue gown she wore.
It was a Jade puzzle necklace like the one I had.
I put my hand on my chest and brought out the one I had hidden beneath my shirt.
She looked at me with surprised eyes.
"Tory, do you remember how you got this necklace?"
I looked at her feeling confused.
"Miss, I'm sorry but I've got things to do, as for this necklace you don't have to think about it too much.
There are often more than one thing that looks exactly alike in this world, don't get too emotional."
After saying that, I put my headphones on, picked up my luggage and started walking towards the road at the right.
"I still think it's impressive how you're there but no one knows that."
"You're indeed easy to impress."
NOAH'S POV.
Nikki and I stared at her as she continued walking away.
"She's right you know." Nikki said with sadness in her tone.
"About what?" I asked as I put my hand on her shoulder.
"There are indeed more than one thing that looks exactly alike in this vast world."
I turned her around and hugged her tightly as she broke down in tears.
TORY'S POV.
"I thought you said the novel hasn't fully begun, how come there's such a dramatic scene?" I said fixing my sight on the path I was walking on.
"Until you get the points necessary for keeping the novel going, the main characters life won't start."
"Am I going to walk all the way to the hospital?"
"It isn't far from here, you'll be there in no time."
"Can't I just teleport there?"
"Teleportation is 1000 points and you got 0 points. It's impossible."
"Can't I take a loan?"
"Loans make the program glitch, so loans were totally removed."
CLEO'S POV.
I walked into the banquet hall feeling confident.
I had worn the new gown I had specifically designed for this event.
I elegantly walked passed a crowd of people and I was about walking to a pedestal table when I felt my confidence being crushed.
"The gown she designed looks so good." I heard a voice said.
"Of course, if she doesn't spend more time with her designs, who would she spend her time with?" Another voice said.
