The envoy rushed as fast as he could, urging his horse to gallop as fast as possible.
Unfortunately, due to rushing too much, his horse fell unconscious upon arriving at the gates of Samara City. Since he had no time to wait for the soldiers to bring him another horse, he sprinted towards the castle on foot.
The envoy traveled alone which allowed him to surpass the marching speed of Blanc's army.
However, a significant setback arose as he had to detour around them, resulting in a considerable loss of time. Consequently, the crucial information faced a delay of two days.
*BANG*
King Samara who just managed to nap after many sleepless nights was startled by the envoy who rudely opened the door due to how panicked he was.
"Your Majesty! I have something urgent to report!"
*SLAM*
The furious King Samara slammed the armrest of his throne after getting disturbed. Usually, he would've ordered the guards to behead this subordinate for disrespecting and disturbing the king's rest.
However, he remembered that they were currently in the middle of a pinch and that the fate of their city depended on how long the envoy was able to stall Blanc so he decided to ignore the envoy's offense this time.
"Speak! Quickly! How long did you manage to stall them?!"
The anxious King Samara spoke with a worried voice.
However, the envoy, who failed to delay Blanc by a single minute, stuttered as he struggled to explain what happened during the negotiations.
Fortunately, the envoy was quick-witted when it came to saving his own life and so, he decided to lie.
"Y-Your Majesty, I-I failed to delay them by even a single m-minute!"
Veins popped on King Samara's head as he couldn't believe what he just heard.
This incompetent envoy failed to do what?! Failed to delay them by even a single minute?!
"RIDICULOUS! GUARDS EXECU–"
"Your Majesty! Allow me to explain!"
This envoy was very lucky that King Samara was exceptionally patient these days because the kingdom was in trouble.
King Samara took a deep breath before listening to the envoy's explanation.
"Alright, I'll give you a chance. Explain!"
After hearing that he was granted a new lease on life, the envoy enthusiastically "explained" what happened.
"Y-Your Majesty! This despicable King Rougenfort initially agreed on a peace treaty with our kingdom but who would've known that his army was already marching towards our kingdom?! I estimate that…that…that later today, t-their army would arrive"
*PUHAHH*
Upon hearing the "explanation" of the envoy, King Samara spat out blood due to feelings of indignation. He felt that he suddenly had the moral high ground in this matter when he was the one who started to stir up shit.
"Outrageous! The world must know of this evil king! We must unite with other kingdoms to smite down this scourge!"
Just when King Samara was about to order the envoy to hire rumormongers and spread the word of Blanc's despicable deeds, another subordinate came rushing in.
"Y-Y-Your Majesty! A large army of Rougenfortians estimated to be around 30,000 is on the horizon, marching towards our city!"
*THUD*
"Your Majesty!!! Are you alright?"
After hearing the report of his other subordinate, King Samara suddenly lost all the strength in his legs and almost collapsed if not for his subordinates catching his body on time.
"Haaah…Haaah…"
King Samara started to breathe heavily as flashbacks of his glorious victory against King Lockridge replayed in his mind.
The moment he personally slew King Lockridge…
The moment he sat on the throne…
The moment he made Queen Lockridge submit…
The look of fear and respect in the eyes of his subordinates…
"RAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHH!!"
A few moments later, King Samara screamed loudly and went on a rampage inside his throne room. He destroyed the chairs, flipped tables, and threw all the served food on the ground.
"WHY?! WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME?! WHAT DID I DO WRONG TO DESERVE THIS?!"
King Samara was slowly going insane after realizing that he might possibly be a few days away from losing everything he worked hard for.
He didn't even realize that he was the one who started this war because, in his mind, he was the one being bullied by the Rougenfort Kingdom.
His subordinates were petrified as they waited at the sides of the throne room for King Samara to calm down.
Finally, after a few straight minutes of releasing his anger, King Samara took a deep breath as he realized that there was still a chance.
As long as they could defend Samara City until their reinforcements arrived, then they would have a chance to turn things around and possibly have a chance to conquer the Rougenfort Kingdom again with the support of the tier 4 Balmore Kingdom.
"Call Grand Marshal Emille and the other two mercenary Swordmasters and summon them to the meeting hall!"
King Samara ordered his subordinates as he looked into the distance and gave a fierce glare to the approaching Rougenfort Army.
"I will never let you destroy everything I've worked for!"
King Samara muttered to himself as he walked towards the meeting hall to start the strategy meeting with the military leaders of his army.

Meanwhile, outside the walls, Helena knew that they had the numbers advantage right now so she ordered her men to surround the city and attack all of Samara City's gates simultaneously.
She decided to surround the city in order to prevent the enemy from sending out messengers to other kingdoms which might cause some problems for them if they failed to quickly conquer Samara City.
After two hours of preparation, Alexander, Leif, and Sabre fired their signal smokes in the sky to let Helena know that they were already in formation.
On the other hand, the Samara Army, who had less than 10,000 men in total, was forced to thin out their defensive lines further and allocate 2,500 men to defend each gate.
Upon seeing the Rougenfort Kingdom's army, Grand Marshal Emille clenched his fists.
He knew that he would be fighting an uphill battle and he would need to defend against 30,000 Rougenfortians for three whole days to give time for the Balmore Kingdom's army to arrive and help them.
