章 101: Master Alchemist Examination

While Blanc and Helena were on the way back, their top three alchemists just arrived at a city in a distant kingdom.

Escorted by a bunch of elite soldiers, the three alchemists planned to take the master alchemist examination.

It has been delayed for way too long so they were very excited about this.

Albert, Marie, and Charles got down from the horse carriage and checked in at an inn while the elite soldiers parked the carriages before going back to the inn.

The next master alchemist examination would take place two days from now so the three of them were reviewing everything they could to make sure that they would pass the examination.

They were given lots of silver coins by Blanc to spend on themselves so they didn't hold back at all. They ordered delicious foods and drank liquor to their heart's content at night.

Two days quickly passed and the day of the examination finally came.

The three of them headed to the venue without their escorts and after arriving, they saw that there was quite a long queue.

"So many people are applying for the master alchemist examination?"

The three of them were shocked. They thought that there would only be a few people who would be applying for the master alchemist examination but it turns out that there were many like them.

It was like a bucket of cold water was poured over them. The feeling of being "special" was gone and they got a bit humbled upon arriving at the registration area.

The three of them told themselves that they must not get overconfident and just focus on doing their best.

After waiting for an hour, it was finally their turn.

The staff at the table gave them pen and paper so that they could write down their credentials.

The three of them quickly filled up all the necessary information before submitting their registration paper to the staff.

"Resonance City? Where is this place? Are you sure that this is valid information?"

The staff interrogated the three of them. This is the first time someone wrote this place called "Resonance City" on their registration papers.

However, since all three of them were from the same city, the staff gave them a chance to explain.

"Yes, we all came from Resonance City. May I ask if you are familiar with the Kingdom of Lockridge, Kingdom of Kairuku, and Kingdom of Terravalle?"

Albert asked the staff.

"I am familiar with the Kingdom of Kairuku and Terravalle but not Lockridge."

"Oh, I see…Well, our Resonance City is located north of the Kingdom of Kairuku and the Kingdom of Terravalle, in the area known as the gloomy plains."

"Hmmm…Well, I'll believe you for now. However, we will send someone to check. If you are lying, then we shall revoke your licenses."

"I see, that is indeed reasonable."

Seeing that Albert agreed to his arrangements, the staff was satisfied and gave the three of them their examinee numbers and tickets.

"Don't lose the number and tickets or you will be disqualified. Proceed through this gate and wait for your names to be called."

Albert, Marie, and Charles, immediately entered the gate after receiving everything they needed for the exam.

Upon entering, the three of them were shocked. At least 500 other examinees were waiting and there were more lined up outside the gate.

However, it wasn't only them who were shocked. The other examinees were also shocked upon seeing the three of them enter.

After all, they looked so young compared to the other examinees who were practically middle-aged and there were even some who were very old already.

Seeing a group of young alchemists applying for the master alchemist exam is indeed very shocking.

However, after a few moments, some examinees merely scoffed at them.

"A mere bunch of kids wants to try their luck here? Ridiculous!"

"Ha! Do these youngsters think they're geniuses? Delusional!"

Some rude people even voiced out their thoughts on purpose.

However, the three of them didn't care. They knew what they were capable of and that isn't gonna change even if the other examinees mock them

Fortunately for them, not all people were rude. Some wise middle-aged men and a few old men talked to them amiably in hopes of making some connections.

These guys were mostly from small kingdoms so they were very humble.

A few moments later, more and more young men and women within the same age group as them, entered the examination venue.

Their noses were so high up in the air that you would think there's something up above the sky that needs urgent attention.

It seems that these young men and women were apprentices of well-known grandmaster alchemists so it was natural that they were very arrogant.

In contrast to the treatment they received, these young men and women were enthusiastically welcomed by the other applicants.

It seemed that almost everyone was desperate to make connections with these young men and women.

After talking for a while with the humble middle-aged men, they learned that it was very important to make connections as an alchemist.

This is why the three of them also got up and approached the young men and women to try and make some important connections.

"Hello, we're from Resonance City…Pleased to make your acquaintance…"

Albert humbly said to a young male examinee.

However, who would've thought that the arrogant young male examinee didn't even spare him a glance?

The situation became very awkward for Albert and he was forced to return to his resting spot in a dejected manner after being humiliated.

Marie and Charles also suffered the same fate. Due to this, the three of them were scared to try and make more connections. They decided to just sat together and waited for the exam to start while consoling each other.

Fortunately, after a few more minutes, an old man dressed in alchemist clothes walked up to the stage in front of the waiting area and announced the start of the master alchemist exam.
