章 7: Chapter 6

Medusa's story was one of the several tragedies in Greek mythology. She was a beautiful woman who served as a priestess in a temple dedicated to Athena.

Athena was regarded as the patron and protectress of various cities across Greece, particularly the city of Athens, from which she most likely received her name.

The Parthenon on the Acropolis of Athens is dedicated to her. Her major symbols include owls, olive trees, snakes, and the Gorgoneion. In art, she is generally depicted wearing a helmet and holding a spear.

She was the Goddess of wisdom, warfare, justice, and handicraft.

She was raped by Poseidon, some sources say that it was to spit on Athena who won against him in their competition to become the main patron deity of the city that would be known as Athens, other that it was simply because the god was infatuated with the priestess beauty.

Ironically, Athena, the supposed goddess of justice, that could not even protect her faithful follower from being raped, instead of looking for justice for her raped priest under the sacred vow of chastity, decided that she would curse the woman to calm her anger against Poseidon.

Athena was simply a self-righteous Karen, so much for a goddess of justice.

I finally reached the cave where Medusa lived. Some animal bones could be found as well as several human status.

Probably foes that tried to challenge the might of Medusa without any sort of plan. If history followed the mythology, medusa would only slain by Perseus, in other to defeat another sea monster, by instruction of Athena.

The goddess probably only helped the 'hero' because the sea monster he wanted to slay was sort of related to Poseidon, and she wanted to spit on her uncle.

Medusa roared. Poor woman, so much time living outside civilization had made this woman truly embrace this monster persona that was pushed into her.

I looked straight into her eyes, and she glared back at me. My hands and feet started to turn into stone, and with my divinity, I easily pushed the curse out of my hands and feet. I was the personification of the sky, no matter how powerful Athena's curse was there was no way that it could turn the sky into stone, this would be a power beyond reason and wisdom, something much above goddess Athena.

Her snakes hissed at me. I slowly get closer to her. She tried to attack me with a slap, which I could easily overpower, holding her hands. The snakes in her head started to bite me all over my face, neck, shoulders, and abdomen, some even tried to bite me on my armpits.

Their poison was far from the likes of Hydra poison, it was practically a normal snake poison something that I could easily deal with strong vitality.

I would not deny that it would have been very painful for my mortal self in my previous life to bear.

But all the pain the previous Ouranos felt for retribution for his own deeds was much higher. Looking at the good side, at least the snake attacks were not castrating ones.

As I was face to face with her Medusa first feared for her life, those eyes of her show more than just suffering, even with all her adverseness in life she wanted to live.

As I was much taller than her, I put my hands over her shoulders and hugged her. It may have been too much precipitated of me, as she tried to escape, apparently fearing to be raped again.

"No need to worry that won't happen. I promise this with the Styx River to bear my oath. Everything is going to be all right..."

She started to cry, as finally, someone saw her for more than that her monster appearance, but that scared woman inside.

We both sat down and I spent some time with Medusa.

I noticed that her way of speaking has become a bit serpentine, maybe because of the lack of humans to communicate. She gradually became more comfortable with me.

"Medusa would you become my follower? I can promise you a place for you to live beyond this darkness. You don't need to be alone. You are not a burden."

She hesitated for a bit, but concluding she had no better option she agreed, as she saw that if I wanted to hurt her it would not be that heart as I was much stronger than her.

"You are still very weak, though. Take this." I said giving her some drops of my tree's sap to drink.

"They are tasty..." Medusa said.

She began to glow and her aura became much stronger.

"Aaaaaaaaai" Medusa shouted, as her hair began to fly above her head, and to pull itself out of her head. The snake that could now fly, unceremoniously abandoned their mother and flew out of the cave.

I should have expected that. Snakes that can fly are basically dragons. The snakes became dragons, with the pride that came with it, refuged to live stuck inside Medusa.

Medusa became a sort of mother to these little dragons, so the center and purest dragon bloodline was within her. Her hair began to regrow at a speed visible to the naked eye, but normal hair replaced the snake one. She cried from happiness seeing it and hugged me. I could feel that she was on the verge of becoming a dragon king, as they called her, or queen which would make more sense in my opinion.

"I can not let this happen. No matter how powerful you are you have no right to interfere in my judgment." Said Athena who appeared outside the door cave.

Athena was a beautiful woman indeed. She had gray hair and an hourglass physique, but I did not pay much attention to it, as I was pissed off.

"Oh, The self-righteous goddess, that could not even protect her own loyal priestess, and even punished her for a situation that was clearly beyond her power to change. I did not want to have a talk with you right now, but as you came to my door..."

I started saying menacingly at the goddess I despised:

" I, Ouranos II, Primordial of the sky and Sovereign of the Moon, cursed goddess Athena to be ever able to learn anything from my domain."

I held Medusa by her hand while we left the cave, while Athena stood lying on the ground apparently with a head-splitting headache.

Being retrained from learning anything about the sky and the moon, and having all she learned suppressed was surely a near-crippling experience to a goddess of wisdom like her.

"Would you like me to beat Poseidon up?" I asked Medusa

"No, master I wanted to give that man who destroyed my life my own piece of mind when I become strong enough."
