Ethan Herd was so angry with his own mother that steam might as well have been coming out of his nose. Word by word, he said, "I told you it's not that. I just... have something I need to do. I'll be right back."

Mrs. Herd was suspicious, "What is it then?"

"Stop asking, I'll tell you later."

Mrs. Herd threw up her hands, "Fine, you go ahead then. I'll just knock on the door after you leave."

Ethan wondered if his mother had come just to sabotage him.

He grabbed Mrs. Herd's hand and dragged her out with him, "Alright, just come with me."

As they went, he turned back to the three people standing near the door, "You... if any of you dare to knock... just try it!"

Thomas, Helena Zell, and Fifth Sister-in-law all shook their heads.

Ten minutes later, Ethan parked the car at the entrance of a nearby pharmacy. "Mum, wait here in the car. I'll be right back."

Mrs. Herd leaned out of the car and looked at the small pharmacy. Smirking, she said, "Buying contraceptive pills, huh."
