She just hoped Angela would not hoist by her own petard.

Gloria paid and left the counter. She handed Nydia the jade bracelet. "How does it look to you?"

"It's pretty nice! My grandma likes the style."

Gloria nodded and handed her the bracelet. "Your grandma has a birthday coming up. This is a gift for her."

"What? Weren't you going to give this to Karen?"

Gloria smiled, "No, I lied."

Nydia was stunned. Before she could react, Gloria thrust the gift into her hand.

Nydia looked puzzled. "What are you doing? It's worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Are you sure?"

"I treat your grandma like family."

Nydia laughed, "Are you planning something?"

Gloria pursed her lips. "You'll know on her birthday."

Nydia thought of something and was pleasantly surprised. "Are you going to fight back?"

"She started it," Gloria said calmly.
