"Oh, really? What if you are just lying to me?"
Karen sounded helpless but she seemed to feel terrible.
Gloria said with resignation, "No, I'm not lying to you!"
"Are you free this evening? Do you want to have dinner with me? They are not home. Just the two of us."
Karen sounded pitiful, as if she were afraid Gloria would say no.
If they talked face to face, Gloria might see her expectant eyes.
Gloria naturally didn't want to disappoint her, so she could only say with a smile, "OK, let's have dinner together."
"Really? You will come, right?"
Gloria chuckled, "Grandma, I never lied to you, did I?"
If the other people of the Collins family were not at home, she guessed she could have dinner and chat with grandma. She didn't want to go to their place before, because not all Collins liked her.
