章 145: Ch. 145: A Bright Horizon

"So you came through. I was beginning to worry that you were going to forget about lowly lifeforms like my people." Guru woke up on a seemingly empty space. Looking up at the starless sky, and the single sun, he immediately realized that he wasn't on Namek anymore, but he wasn't especially shocked, so he calmly addressed the girl sitting on the ground beside him instead.

"Mistress always keeps her promises." The girl shrugged.

"I see that now. As for the rest of my children?" Guru asked her.

"In a moment, we'll revive them. You'll be going to Earth. Mistress's dojo, to be precise. I just wanted to talk to you before we began the process."

"I see. I thank you for the extra energy, by the way. I feel fifty years younger." Guru said.

She shrugged again in response, "That body's just a medium. We flooded it with a lot more energy than your real one."

"So, when I get back to Earth...?" Guru trailed off, but they both knew what he was asking.

"You'll still be dying, yes." She answered. "Less than an hour."

"I suppose my time has come. I'll have to pass the Dragon Balls on to elder Moori before I go. I thank you for the opportunity. Even without me, my children will thrive, so I have no regrets." Guru told her. He'd made peace with his death long ago, after all.

"I envy you." She admitted quietly, before she tossed something at Guru. With his temporary body's physical prowess, he was just barely able to catch it.

"An apple?" He asked her, confused.

"That peace that you managed to find... I hope Mistress finds it someday. But us Core Girls always repay our debts, and we do owe you quite a bit, Grand Elder." She took a breath before continuing. "That apple is one that we have managed to personally cultivate using divine power. To us, it's a common fruit with no effects. To you, though, it should extend your life by roughly two centuries. It's up to you whether you eat it or not." She explained to him.

Guru examined the apple in his hands. He could sense the divine power emanating from it, and he knew that she wasn't joking. "What do you think I should do?" He asked with a sigh. He'd made his peace with death a long time ago. Prolonging his life at this point in time felt like a double-edged sword. He wasn't sure what to do.

"It's up to you. If you eat it here, then I'll ensure that the effects transfer to your real body. If not, you'll die." She told him.

"A choice between life and death, huh? I'm not allowed to give the fruit away?" That was Guru's real hang-up. He felt that two hundred years of extra life would be better spent on another.

"No. Depending on who you give it to, it could mess with Mistress's plans. Either eat it now, or it'll have to go to waste." She told him.

'Then there's no point in refusing.' Guru immediately decided, taking a bite into the apple.

...

"THE WALLS ARE CLOSING IN!" Vegeta heard someone shout as soon as he opened his eyes, followed by an explosion that made him reflexively open his eyes and look toward the source.

"Huh?" It was just the bald human... Curly. After shouting something about 'the walls closing in,' he'd blasted off the ground with so much force that he'd left a fair-sized crater. The strange part of it was the fact that there weren't any walls to close in. They were in a wide, open plains area right in front of a wooden building that was clearly not of Namekian make. In fact, it was clear that they weren't on Namek at all anymore.

"I'm... alive?" Vegeta could barely believe it, but he could tell. He'd somehow been brought back from the dead and transported to another planet... Just looking around, he could tell that it was likely Earth, as that made the most sense, but he couldn't be certain of anything right now. Closing his eyes, he pinpointed the location of all of the strongest people nearby. Curly was falling from the sky nearby. Raditz was also somewhere nearby, as well as Piccolo. As for Nappa and the two Half-Saiyans, they were inside the nearby building.

But as he began to make his way to it in order to demand an answer as to what was going on, he heard a shout. "GREAT ELDER, YOU'RE ALIVE!?"

"WHOAAAA!!!" Suddenly, the Namekians began to stampede into the house, trampling all in their path. It honestly looked like a group of green clowns trying to pack themselves into a tiny car, with how many Namekians attempted to get into the building in order to get a look at their Great Elder. There were even a few of them who simply flew right over the building itself in order to get a look. The non-Namekians, including Piccolo, were left standing outside, confused.

Finally, they heard a shout, and their attention was turned to Krillin landing nearby. "Alright, what just happened? A second ago, I was seriously injured in a hole on Namek, about to be crushed by falling rocks. Now, we're all fine, clearly back on Earth, and I have enough energy to jump straight into the stratosphere without even flying." Krillin wondered.

"I don't know, but that's definitely Hanna's dojo, and Vegeta was..." Raditz started, but he trailed off.

"Dead, yeah." Vegeta said coldly, clenching his fists. "I threw everything that I had at that bastard... and he just shrugged it off before casually killing me."

"Wait, if Vegeta's alive... then..." A revelation came to Krillin, and he immediately focused on his Ki sense. "Hanna!" Instantly, Krillin dashed towards the house, having pinpointed Hanna's energy. He'd been pretty out of it, but he'd been able to tell what had happened. He knew that Hanna had died to protect him.
