章 8: God of mine

Below the guild

Ouranos, also known as Uranos, sits on a simple stone throne and his aid Fels stands in the shadow behind it.

The god resembles his anime adaption with white hair and beard, but had an aura you couldn't show through art.

"Hello.", he simply greets with an estimating look.

"God Ouranos.", I answer with the same look, because I couldn't know what his concrete intentions are.

"Do you know the name of the god, who gave you your Falna?"

"No, sir, but I have a good guess at who it should be.", I answer honestly as gods can discern the truth.

"And that would be?", he asks.

"Your father, Aether. Primordial God of light and the personification of aether that influences anything between heaven and earth."

That was my conclusion.

I met him after I found his relic, a prisma.

He arrived as a light and couldn't be Apollo, because of the different abilities.

Another option would be the titan Hyperion.

But again, his abilities should be a little different, so I came to the first conclusion.

A being who governs over light, that explains the ability of my 'Status', as it bends light.

A being that governs over aether, a mist that envelops everything between heaven and earth.

So it should be possible to influence a mortal to 'Upgrade'.

"I see. Did you meet him? Where?"

"In an unknown place, sir." That I was a soul wasn't asked, so I didn't say it.

"That old man couldn't sit still, now could he. Okay, you can go back now."

I leave the cellar, the way I came and meet Rose upstairs who guides me back to the lobby.

I shouldn't think to much about it. Ouranos can't communicate with Aether at the moment, as nobody knows where he is, and he doesn't seem interested in me. He also doesn't want to much attention from the other gods, so he will keep my information secret.

-

Two weeks passed.

In the time I earned more than enough money to pay the rent, but as Mama Mia doesn't want it till the end of the month, I came to the conclusion to invest into some armor, as my savings nearly reached 90k valis. I don't plan to spend it all, but prefer to stay alive and earn more in the coming weeks by venturing to deeper floors.

My only expenditures the last weeks were three low-grade potions, but as I didn't venture deeper than the 5th floor, my Basic Abilities didn't increase as much as I would like.

It was a well know fact, that one would gain more excelia if he was challenged by the difficulties of the Dungeon, but as my stats were above those low-level monsters, I don't gain much.

I do challenge myself, by trying to dodge attacks of multiple opponents and as Agility is the lowest physical attribute, I make some progress, but I am not sure, if I could handle the fast tongues of the frogshooters and the sneak attacks of the war shadows simultaneously.

So to stay safe, I want to buy some armor.

As Bell in canon, I visit the levels above the Dungeon where the Hephaestus familia has 5 floors of stores. As my savings are nearly ten times as much as what Bell had, I visit the 7th level, which holds slightly better armors.

I want protective armor, that doesn't effect my movements to much, so I excluded sets of plate armor.

After two hours of searching through the different shops, I find a black brigandine.

That learher coat with incorporated little silver metal plates is fullfilling both requirements quite good.

The plates protect the vital points, but because they aren't directly connected, the leather gives me great manoeuvrability. Not as good as my old, but better than most others.

Another good point is that it comes as a set with two gloves.

The three parts together cost 40k valis. Nearly half of my savings are gone, but since I am now good equipped, I could challenge the 6th floor again tomorrow.

To make sure to survive, I buy another mid-grade health potion from the Dian Cecht shop, before going back.

As my vital points are now protected, mid-grade potions are enough till the 10th or 12th floor, as long as I don't be stupid enough to hold my head out for them.

-

The following morning, I make my way to the Dungeon again.

I am at the end of the 5th floor in less than 2 hours.

With my newfound courage I climb down to the 6th floor.

Like last time, I first stay in the proximity of the stairs and hunt some frogshooters.

They are a lot easier to deal with as their only attack is the tongue, even if the range is 20 meters.

So with enough focus, I dodge the attack and slash at the tongue from the side.

Then sprinting to the frog, I stab at it with my spear.

With that method, I kill a few more of them, but as I want to walk a little away from the stairs, I meet two frogshooters and through keeping an eye on my surroundings, I see a shadow flicker in the ground to my right. Before coming up with a plan the first frogshooter attacks and I want to dodge to the left to avoid the war shadow, but either they have good teamwork or luck, but the attack of the second frogshooter goes to my left side, so I use the timeframe they can't attack after a previous attack and dodge to my left, while stabbing the tip of my spear in the shadow, I presumed the monster to be in.

As I can't see where it's fatal points are in this form, I only hear a howl, but couldn't stab another time as two tongues are on their way to my left shoulder and head.

To counter I take a step away from the attack, to gain enough time to raise my spear to defend.

As I defended the two blows, the war shadow comes out of his hiding place and also attacks.

Because it is fairly slower than the ones I met before, I think my attack injured one of its legs.

I take another step away and as the frogshooters take the tongues back for another attack, I use this seemingly small second to stab the war shadow in front of me in the neck.

Then my strategy from before came in play. Dodge the tongues. Slash the tongues. Kill the monster.

Took me some time, but after killing all three monsters, I wasn't even injured.

With the newfound confidence, I hunt around the floor.

I didn't get overconfident and still checked my surroundings.

Good that I did, because in another room three war shadows tried to ambush me, but with a lucky stab in the nearest shadow, I killed one and as I had experience with the 1vs2 scenario, I killed them quickly as their defense can't be called that, as their only defense is their claws which can intercept the attacking weapon as long as they are fast enough, which they were not in front of me.

After three hours of hunting, I make my way back to the surface, as my fatigue accumulated.

I still reserved enough stamina to get back up, but had an unforseen event waiting for me on the 3rd floor.

A monster tide.

Thanks for your support.

Today's chapter is a little longer as I don't know yet,

If I have enough time tomorrow to publish another.

Hope you enjoy it.

I also like if you comment errors I didn't see.

Doesn't matter whether it's a spelling or logic mistake.

Till then.
