章 4: Drama At Dinner

Years in the Navy Seals had taught him one thing, murder has a way of always biting you in the ass. Tristan knew he had maybe overlooked something but honestly, sometimes getting away with murder was most probably luck than anything else. On his part, he had made sure the crime looked as forward as it could get; two junkies killed each other for blow before the murderer snuffed it into overdose. It was so straight forward no tired detective will pass by the chance of having a crime solved so fast and easily. As for the Impala, he had it sold for scrapping after thoroughly wiping it clean of his evidence. It helps his brain was processing things faster, computing and showing him just how it would all go for him to be finally safe.

So, with everything done, he took a subway to his stop and decided to walk so that his thoughts might air. What he was concerned about was Mendez. Logic dictated he should have killed the two idiots for fibbing up the job he gave them. So, why didn't he? Tristan came up with a most probable thought, Mendez might be in trouble. Out of all the dealers Mendez worked with, Ian was the one that made him a lot of doh. It helps he sells in school because nobody use drugs more than teenagers. It's their metabolism, heightened and growing that helps them shake off the after effects faster and thus crave for more. School helps mostly, with the peer pressure, bullying, mental exhaustion and all that.

In the end, the only reason why Mendez would be willing to cut off the one person that makes more money than everyone else combined was because of trouble. But, what kind of trouble. Honestly, this was Marvel universe and New York, the centre of everything Marvel related. Almost every hero and villians sort of live here.

Honestly, Tristan believes that New York must be mystical or something. Anyway, the reason Mendez might be willing to cut him off might be related to Kingping, the Hand, Hydra, Hammerhead, Tombstone or more of the kind. But, his money was due to Kingpin especially because this was Hells Kitchen. Just as his mind was still wondering, he felt someone pinch his butt, making him turn around aggravated. But, the sight of the little temptress that was grinning back at him made him forget his anger.

"Hey you," she greeted him with a witty smile. It was Stacy Lakes, the girl who was being harassed by the Algebra teacher earlier in the day.

"Did you just pinch my butt?" he asked her, making her shrug.

"Saw you daydreaming, so I just went for it. Also, it didn't help your butt is so sexy," she seductively said. Tristan was taken aback by her boldness.

"What do you want, Stacy?" he asked her, non-committally. This girl had a screw loose and he didn't want anything to do with her.

"Wanted to tell you that's I'm free tonight. I wanna thank you for helping me out today," she said as she came closer to him. Due to his height, she could only reach upto his chest and even when she til toed, her forehead could only reach his chin.

"Just say thank you next time. I have to go," he shut her down before walking away. Stacy was stunned by his refusal, not quite used to it. She knew she was the most beautiful girl in school, she dressed the part, walks the part, talks the part and every boy wanted her. She has had her fill of with the boys and she was tired of their blandness.

So, when Ian had saved her earlier in the day, that was the moment she had noticed him. His face was a blank sheet, not letting his emotions leak out, even when she sent him a disarming smile. She wanted to know what made him tick and so, she kept watch. During lunch, that's when she saw the real him. He was caring when he was with his sisters, smiling occasionally and his tender look made her feel her heart strings being tugged.

Then, he walked away from the table, his face an emotionless mask once again. Then, he proceeded to give him the best show she had ever seen. He stabbed someone nonchalantly after breaking someone else's nose, demanding for his money. He walked away like a boss, before his emotionless mask slipped. Once again, he was caring when around his sisters, giving the eldest money and kissing the youngest goodbye before he left.

To Stacy, this was probably the sexiest thing she had ever seen. Due to her jailbird of a father, what she had received all her life was tough love. He didn't care about her till she did something stupid. Her brothers were even worse, not even bothering to show they cared, everyone of them doing something illegal after another. So, seeing a man caring so much about his family, one that was her age, she had become starstruck. Thus, she had looked for him all over till she found him, walking home looking so deep into his thoughts.

She immediately realized one thing, she was in love. She stalked after him, drinking his ethereal looking figure into her brain and becoming drunk with it. So, she made her move. Letting her list do her thinking, she had started by pinching his butt. She didn't expect him to react so aggressively, a part of her wishing she would choke him, but she felt even better, orgasmic even, when she saw his anger evaporate after seeing her. But, it appeared she had her work cut out for her for he was still as cold to her and she vowed silently to herself she would win him over.

.....

Tristan arrived home, his earlier incident with Stacy long forgotten. It appeared he arrived just in time for he could see Mandy was already serving dinner. He smiled to himself, seeing everyone at the dinner table before the smile faltered when he saw a teenage boy at the table giving Mandy the googly eyes. His eyes steeled as he walked to the front door and opened it.

"I'm home," he announced, closing the door behind him.

"Ian!" Chloe giggled happily, charging at him and throwing her small frame into his awaiting arms. "Did you bring me something?"

"Not today, Chloe. But tomorrow I'll buy everyone something," he assured her.

"Just make mine even better because it was my idea," Chloe demanded, making him chuckle.

"Sure," he agreed, putting him down. He then looked at the dining table where the teenage boy looked back at him nervously. "Who's the snack bite?" The boy wanted to answer but Mandy beat him to it.

"This is Luke Swann, my boyfriend," Mandy said, curtly, before pointing at his seat, basically telling him not sit down and shove his masculinity deep deep down. He complied, sitting down but still glaring at Like, who looked so uncomfortable he was ready to just melt.

"I bet you're regretting coming here, huh? Must have thought he won't be coming back," Sue, the over eager troubleshooter, said. Zoe gave her a kick on her shin to shut her up but Sue just give her a raspberry.

"Behave, everyone!" Mandy demanded. She had taken the role of the mother figure and the rest of the siblings were just too afraid of her to rebel.

"Heard you are a transfer student. Where you from?" Tristan asked as Mandy continued serving.

"Texas. My mother got transferred in the city so we had to move," Luke answered, slightly more confident seeing his girlfriend had a tight grip on her siblings. But, be was still deathly afraid of Tristan after seeing what he could do at school. What was even more scarier was that nobody followed up with the incident.

"Welcome to Hells Kitchen. Hope you own a gun, you might need it more often than not," Tristan chuckled at his own joke. Then, the doorbell rang making him frown.

"I'll get it," Sue said, quickly darting away. Tristan knew she only volunteered because she was enjoying the tense atmosphere and was willing for it to continue.

"Look who it is!" Sue happily cried out as she brought in Stacy Lakes. Stacy had changed her clothes into a pair of loose fitting jeans, a white t-shirt, a black jacket and open shoes. Gone was her heavy make up and instead had a light one that seemed to even make her more stunning. In her hands was a pumpkin pie she had just bought.

"We bumped into each other earlier and wanted to apologize for what happened. So, I brought you some pie," Stacy said as she smiled at him beautifully. Tristan could see the shit eating grin on Mandy's face and knew there was no way he was going to send her away.

"That's very thoughtful of you," Mandy said as she received Stacy like she was a long lost relative, expertly taking the pie from her hands as she pulled him to the table. Tristan knew she would have made her stay beside him but Chloe would go into a death match with anyone about to take her seat. So, she sat Stacy in front of him, giving him a devilish grin in the process.

"God damnit!" Tristan cursed under his breath. Stacy had just ruined his chance of intimidating and possibly running off Luke. If he thought of coming after him, Mandy would fire her comebacks using Stacy! So, he glared at the culprit who didn't have any self preservation, just smiling back.
