I knew exactly what Pa was doing by mentioning Malia during dinner. He was not on board with us having our affair and was trying to make me realise Demyan was in for the long haul when it came to Malia. I did not want to acknowledge it but it did not make me feel good that he disapproved of my choice. 

Yet as I looked at Demyan who sat not so far away from me, I could not help but throw caution to the wind. He looked like the picture of beauty and seeing him in a dress again almost made me throw myself down at his feet and worship him. It was painful to know he was within an arm's reach and I could not touch him. 

By the way Oksana kept on glancing at me I had a strong feeling she had already figured me out. Before we could open my housewarming gifts we went out to the large open spaced balcony I had that was covered by glass panels for cold winter nights like these.
