章 127: Cheer Up

After getting to know his new teammates, Naruto and the others were all set to meet up with their fresh squad members.

Naruto, being Naruto, had his forehead protector out but decided to sling it around his waist rather than sport it on his forehead. With two hefty blades strapped to his sides, adding the forehead protector to the mix just made him look like a cluttered vendor cart, full of random stuff like that cheap roach medicine they sell on every street corner.

Somehow, Naruto seemed to be in unusually high spirits. As they made their way to rendezvous with the other teams, he started humming and crooning a little tune: "Midnight's here, three nights clear, eyes shut tight, yet no sleep near. Toss and turn, toss and churn, minds a-blur, hearts a-burn."

Hydrangea and Hibiscus, walking ahead, exchanged glances, then turned back with curiosity.

They couldn't make out the words, but they could sense Naruto was singing in a language unfamiliar to them. And honestly, they had no clue what Naruto was on about.

Was the tune catchy at least?

But Naruto couldn't pull a fast one on Kurama, not in his spiritual domain.

Whether Kurama heard the singing or just understood Naruto through their spiritual bond, the old fox nearly choked on whatever spiritual essence foxes have. He spat out incredulously, "You're serenading two girls with that tune?"

Man, Kurama's seen it all.

"Cough, cough, cough," Naruto let out a light, awkward cough, then brushed it off.

But how could he forget? Over the past four years, he had lived, breathed, and forgotten everything else, dedicating himself to training day and night. And all the while, someone had been chatting with him in the spiritual world. Kurama suspected Naruto did it on purpose.

"Well, I'll switch it up, try another," Naruto persisted, changing his tune and singing once more, "You're calling for me, who's reluctant to come, who's reluctant to come? ~Ah. Your house has such tall walls, it's like you're fortifying it everywhere, afraid your old man might bring in some heavy artillery and blast it down."

"Who are you gossiping with now, little fox? Getting all worked up?" Kurama peered at him with narrowed Byakugan eyes.

Naruto's eyes narrowed in response, a mischievous smirk playing at his lips.

"Kurama, we're heading back to Konoha Village. How can you not be excited? Imagine the looks on everyone's faces when they see me swaggering back," Naruto exchanged excitedly with Kurama in their spiritual connection.

Kurama was taken aback, quickly cautioning, "Don't be reckless. Remember, you represent the Rain Shinobi Village now. You wouldn't want to disappoint your foster parents, would you?"

Naruto paused, a somber expression crossing his face, then he exclaimed with frustration and anger, "Kurama? You really have the nerve to say that. Despite their kindness, they're not my real parents. I have yet to forget who my true family is."

Kurama snorted disdainfully, unimpressed by the idea of Naruto belting out those chaotic tunes.

In their spiritual realm, Naruto's chat with Kurama went unnoticed by Hydrangea and Hibiscus, sparing them any potential confusion.

Naruto reassured Kurama, "Hey, I'll keep a low profile until Akatsuki makes their move. But after that, who knows? Anyway, heading back to Konoha Village. You excited, Kurama?"

Another snort from Kurama. What's there to be excited about? Konoha Village brings more sadness than joy.

In the original storyline, Kurama had three hosts: Mito, Kushina, and now Naruto. And being sealed was all because of Konoha Village.

Controlled by Madara at first, used as a weapon against Hashirama in their war, and then sealed away. Since then, Kurama's never been truly free. Now split into two halves, there's no happiness to be found.

"Don't talk like that. We've been in Konoha for years. Friendly people, my dear wife," Naruto said, launching into a song. Kurama's expression twisted. Little wife? What about the big one? And Naruto's singing about intrigue and disgust... isn't that what he's going back to?

Ignoring the nonsense, Kurama declared, "I'm going to sleep," retreating into the cage for some peace.

The seal remains intact. Naruto's been too busy to deal with it, and breaking the seal without the right method could hurt Kurama—or worse.

The key to the seal lies with Naruto, sealed within a scroll toad in Mount Myōboku. Naruto plans to meet Jiraiya in Konoha Village, hoping to unlock the seal.

But facing his parents' chakra, left as a safeguard, brings uncertainty. Naruto's conflicted but knows it's time to confront it all.

"Cheer up, Kurama," Naruto concluded, ready to face what's ahead.
