Ch.63
After Professor Oak asked Yveltal all the questions he could think of we left. I headed back home where I met with my Dad and stayed with him the rest of the day. The following morning I headed back to Cynthia's family's estate. There I met back with Cynthia who was preparing for the tournament in the Sinnoh Region.
I helped Cynthia train her team, by battling me, though now my team outmatched hers very easily. However, it did help my team level up for those that could, with Giratina helping Annihilape reach Emperor rank too. That just leaves Mamoswine and Milotic for me to figure out a way to increase their potential as they are stuck at King/Queen Rank.
Gardevoir reached level 80 during this time, while having the ability to continue to Rank up, though I will have to figure out how to help her do it. My team is close to reaching their potential, though I want to push Mamoswine and Milotic beyond their maximum potential. That was for another day though, as today was the day we'd all be heading to the championship tournament.
Cynthia, myself, and her entire family all made the journey to the Sinnoh region tournament area. Arriving there, we were let in as I bought the tickets for everyone, Cynthia was let in for being a contestant. We all then went to our hotel where I booked rooms for us all. Cynthia and I then settled into our room, as she was nervously pacing back and forth in the room.
"You are going to do great. In fact, I know you are going to be the next champion," I say to Cynthia who is still pacing in nervousness.
"How do you know that?" Cynthia says with nervousness.
"Because of everything you accomplished, plus your team is almost as good as mine. I doubt anyone except for the current Champion to give you a hard time," I say to Cynthia who nods her head, then glares at me.
"What do you mean almost as good?" Cynthia says as I smirk at her.
"Well, several of my Pokémon are now Emperor Rank, with one God Rank… so, no offense but I think only Professor Oak could prove to be a challenge to me now," I say to her as she punches my shoulder playfully annoyed.
"We'll see about that!" Cynthia says now her confidence and excitement are back.
"Let's go and see my competition!" Cynthia says dragging me out of the room where we meet with her family and go watch the preliminary rounds for the less-known trainers to qualify for the main tournament.
There we watched as many matches as we could, with only a handful of trainers who seemed to be decently talented, lucky, connected, or all three. Then two weeks passed for the preliminary rounds to be finished. With them over the main tournament finally started.
Cynthia was one of the first to battle in the main tournament, however, her opponent wasn't even note-worthy compared to her. Like that Cynthia quickly made her way to the semi-finals. During the time it took to reach this area, I noticed several of the competitors were people I recognized from my past life.
The three I recognized were Aaron a tall and lanky pale-skinned man around our age. His hair was a lime green, with similarly green eyes and he appeared to be a Bug type specialist. The next is Flint, an average-looking man, however, he has bright red hair in an afro with dark grey eyes. The last one was Lucian, who looked like Lucifer from the TV show in my past life, wearing a fancy three-piece suit, fashionable glasses, with light purple colored hair with matching eyes.
'They were all part of the elite four in my past life, I can only assume they will take those mantels after this tournament,' I think seeing them make it this far and recognizing them.
The next battle was between Cynthia and Aaron, as the two walked out. Though they both had fans, Cynthia was the more popular one, especially because of her recent discoveries. The two took their positions, before sending their first team members. Cynthia sent out Spiritomb, while Aaron sent out a Yanmega.
Yanmega is a large, dark green dragonfly Pokémon. Its large eyes are red with black lines that make a sideways 'T' shape in each one. It has two large, white fangs or mandibles next to its small mouth. Each of Yanmega's segments has a red spot on it, while the last tail segment has a black triangular plate. It has two similar plates on the back of its thorax and a third on its head. Yanmega has six black thin legs. It has four white, oval wings with red tips, and there are two smaller white wings on the end of its tail.
"Begin!" the referee says which we can all hear since they wear a microphone around their head, like head referees from football in my past life.
Spiritomb immediately used Trick Room followed by Nasty Plot, reversing the speed of the two Pokémon. With Nasty Plot boosting its Special Attack, at the same time, Yanmega used Sword Dance and Double Team, making copies of itself along with boosting its attack.
Spiritomb then began charging up a Shadow Ball, as Yanmega charged up a Night Slash. However, due to Tick Room, Spiritomb was able to release the Shadow Ball which flew toward Yanmega who tried to dodge but was just too slow. While Yanmega sent out a dark-edged blade of energy toward Spiritomb, who easily dodged the strike using its new speed.
Even with Double Team, the battle quickly ended in Spiritomb's favor, as they were able to defeat Yanmega, who could not even damage Spiritomb easily. Aaron then sent out Scizor, a bipedal, insectoid Pokémon with a red, metallic exoskeleton. It has gray, retractable forewings and hind wings with simple, curved venation. Its rounded head has three blunt horns extending above its forehead and eyes with dark yellow pupils. Scizor's thin, black neck connects to a black, teardrop-shaped patch on its thorax. Scizor has broad shoulders and thin, segmented arms ending in large, round pincers, which comprise a third of Scizor's body weight. Scizor has a large, rounded abdomen with three black, chevron-shaped stripes extending from its waist down its front. Scizor's legs are defined by large hip joints, thin thighs, and wide calves, and its feet end in a clawed toe on each side. Its arms appear similar to the pincers of animals from crustacean groups like crabs and the presence of markings resembling eyes gives the illusion of additional heads.
The new battle began, though once again Spiritomb used Trick Room, which easily turned the table with Scizor. Scizor however, instead used Iron Defense and Agility. Spiritomb was able to land a Shadow Ball on a slowed Scizor. However, Scizor kept using Agility slowly regaining their speed back. Which only allowed Spiritomb to land two more Shadow Balls.
Scizor looked worse for wear, as Spiritomb sent another Shadow Ball their way, though this time they were able to dodge it successfully. Scizor looked happy now along with Aaron, that Scizor regained their speed somewhat. Cynthia looked indifferent at the change and commanded Spiritomb to use Hypnosis.
Scizor prepared an X-scissor and charged Spiritomb, who waited until they were close enough to not dodge. Scizor landed their strike cutting into Spiritomb's rocky body making Spiritomb cry out in pain. Though Spiritomb pushed through the pain and released a Hypnosis. Scizor stumbled back before falling asleep.
Right as Cynthia commanded Spiritomb to use Dream Eater, Aaron withdrew Scizor. Cynthia looked slightly annoyed since Spiritomb was not able to restore themselves slightly before the next battle. While Aaron looked annoyed that he lost two of his team with Cynthia still having none lost.
Aaron then sent out his Vespiquen, a bee-like Pokémon with a typical insect-like, three-part body, divided into an abdomen, thorax, and head. It has a yellow- and black-striped abdomen, which flares out from a thin, waist-like protrusion under its thorax in a manner that resembles an elegant ballgown. Underneath the expansive abdomen are seven orange, honeycomb-like cells that serve as a nest for baby Combee; the centermost cell, however, surrounds what appears to be a slender, yellow, more insect-like abdomen, which is often obscured by the 'gown' part of its abdomen.
Vespiquen has black arms that each consist of two thin, conical segments. Each arm ends in two small, orange claws. It flies with a pair of relatively small wings, each of which consists of two stacked, translucent teardrop segments. Vespiquen's arms and wings attach to its round thorax, which is yellow on the front, black on the back, and orange on each side where its arms attach. A curved line on its back, between its orange shoulders, separates its thorax and waist. Vespiquen's head consists of its face and horns. Its orange face has intimidating red eyes; yellow mandibles that protrude from its face and connect to its horns; and a large, red gem on its forehead. Making the appearance of a crown on their head.
Spiritomb was now slightly damaged, though once again used Trick Room and Nasty Plot. While Vespiquen used Aromatic Mist and Defense Order, boosting both her Defense and Special Defense. Spiritomb then used Confuse Ray as the energy formed into a ball and flew toward Vespiquen. However, just as Vespiquen was hit with the Confuse Ray, she just released her move which connected both her and Spiritomb, Destiny Bond.
Cynthia looked very annoyed seeing this, while Aaron smirked. Cynthia appeared to be debating on gambling the battle, however, decided to continue. Spiritomb then used Will-O-Wisp on the slowed Vespiquen who grunted as the energy burned her. Vespiquen also released her attack, am Attack Order, where the few bees inside her body rushed Spiritomb and attacked the rocky body.
Now it was a battle of attrition since Cynthia was determined to have Vespiquen knock herself out in confusion or through the burns. Aaron was trying to defeat Spiritomb before that happened. Spiritomb used protect, as a bubble of invisible energy formed around them with Vespiquen slowly being burned and hurting herself in confusion.
Finally, Vespiquen fainted as he hurt herself in confusion once again. With Spiritomb only at half health, it appeared. Aaron was looking very annoyed and upset at these losses, before sending out his next Pokémon.
Aaron sent out a Flygon, a Pokémon that resembles a slightly insectoid, bipedal dragon. It is primarily light green and has a pair of large rhombus-shaped wings with red trim, toeless hind legs, and skinny arms with three-clawed hands. Flygon's tail has several dark green stripes and three small green rhombus shapes with red trims at the end. It has large eyes and a pair of green antennae that point back. Its eyes have red covers that prevent sand from getting into them.
As soon as the battle started, Spiritomb like before used Trick Room, followed by a Shadow Ball this time. However, Flygon used Sandstorm making it be missed by the Shadow Ball, before using Dig. Spiritomb was slowly being worn down by the Sandstorm, the tables turned as Flygon was just hiding underground waiting for Spiritomb to be worn down.
Cynthia seeing this strategy glared at Aaron who finally smiled that he one upped her. Cynthia then withdrew Spiritomb seeing the loss, right after the Sandstorm died down and Flygon reappeared heading back to the starting point. Cynthia then sent out her next Pokémon, Lucario.
Lucario is a bipedal, canine-like Pokémon with predominantly blue and black fur. It possesses a short, round spike on the back of each forepaw, in addition to a third on its chest. It has red eyes, a long snout, and ears. When its mouth is open, two pairs of pointed teeth, one in the upper jaw and one in the lower, can be seen. It possesses cream-colored fur on its torso and blue fur on its thighs that resemble shorts. It has a medium-length tail of the same blue color as well. It stands on its toes rather than on its entire foot. It has developed four black appendages that hang down from its head, which rise when Lucario reads or manipulates aura, a special energy that it senses.
