Lunch continued with us still wallowing in silence after the drama had ended. I couldn't shake off the feeling of how I had unintentionally made things worse between Rex and me. Victor's probing questions likely convinced him that my feelings were real for Brayden. It felt like a mess I couldn't undo, and it gnawed at me. This was definitely not how I hoped the day would unfold.

Jude cleared his throat, breaking the tense silence. "Hey guys, I know everyone's dealing with stuff, but can we at least talk? Please?"

Unfortunately, Jude's plea seemed to fall on deaf ears as we remained silent.

"Okay, how about we try to resolve our differences?" Jude persisted. "Rex and Syd, why don't you start?"

"I have no problem with anyone," Rex replied promptly, his gaze fixed on me.
