Mikael and Nicolaus were strolling along the winding corridor back to the east wing. It felt like they had been walking for minutes, but the destination was still nowhere in sight.

Meanwhile, Secretary Cade and Miss Celia had resumed their duties.

As they passed by the tall windows that lined the walls, Mikael couldn't help through them. He saw how the sky was turning into a gloomy shade of gray like someone had spilled ink all over it.

The air was filled with rumbling thunders, but there were no flashes of lightning, not even a faint spark, like it was too shy to show itself.

The air was tense between them as they walked side by side. Neither of them spoke for a long time until Mikael finally decided to break the silence.

He turned his head slightly and looked at Nicolaus with a serious expression. "When are you going to take your hand off my shoulder?" He asked in a grave tone, still feeling the warmth on his skin.
