The sun had set, bathing the world in a veil of darkness. A soft glow reflected off the canvas roof of the wagon. In the distance, James could see several torches lighting up the area around the caravan. This would allow people to find their way through the darkness.

James rubbed his eyes and stared at the tan ceiling of the wagon. Immediately thoughts of yesterday's bloody battle came rushing back into his mind. He tried to shake his head and forget about it, but the face of King Herod forced its way to the surface. James felt sick to his stomach with sadness as the reality of his death came back to him.
