"So you want to take the serum and go fight those aliens? That's why you wanted to rush it?" Sage asked me with some grievance in her voice.
I told her about everything after I returned from SHIELD. Right now, the whole world was preparing to face off against the enemies who might appear at any time. All the heroes were preparing as well so I returned to the lab to work on my serum.
"No. I definitely don't want to fight. But I don't want to take the 50/50 chance that we might get erased from existence so I will do what I can to stop that from happening. The serum is just a protective measure." That seemed to convince Sage as she nodded and went back to computing the new data from the experiment.
"This is the latest batch. It should have reached about 98% compatibility." She handed me a test tube containing faint golden liquid serum.
"Thanks. You should go rest now. I'll use my ability to speed up the process so it won't take a lot of time." Sage wanted to refuse but I insisted and sent her away.
Looking at the faint golden liquid that contained unknown amounts of power I started to use my powers actively and started to gather the information from the serum and processed it in my mind. Then I used my cause-and-effect ability to simulate the future combinations of the serum and my DNA while constantly making small adjustments to the serum.
It took me more than twelve hours of non-stop simulations and adjustments to the serum to finally get the most perfect version of the serum I could get. It was only because of all the painstaking research efforts we had made during the previous months to understand the serum that I was able to get it done in that time.
But although my mind could take more, my body and spirit were exhausted so I decided to take a nap before completing the final serum. So, I slept through the next eight hours, waking up refreshed.
I had already done accurate calculations and perfected the process in my mind so it was easy to create the serum. After a few hours, there was a test tube filled with shining golden serum in my hands. The information coming from the serum was telling me that it would be safe for me to consume it.
But for an extra measure of security, I decided to get far away from the city to take the serum. Before leaving, I cleared away any and all traces of data indicating the research or production of the sentry serum. Unless someone has powers similar to mine, they would never find anything here.
And for those beings who could have powers similar to mine, the golden sentry serum didn't even matter at all.
I slipped out of the building and went straight to the New York Harbor. After buying a small boat in cash, I sailed away into the sea. When I knew that I was far enough from anyone's sight, I took out the serum.
Staring at the golden liquid, I meditated for half an hour to adjust my state of mind. Only when I felt that my mind and body were completely relaxed and I had no distracting thoughts, I uncorked the liquid and drank it all with a single gulp.
It didn't feel any different for the first few seconds, so I adjusted my breathing and calmed myself down but then I felt my body start to heat up. There was lava flowing in my veins or so I felt. I could physically feel the serum spreading through my body.
I could see my own information change cell by cell as my cells were starting to contain enormous amounts of energy. But my cells were still normal human cells, not made to contain so much energy and so, at some point all my cells started to explode and then regenerate.
The process was somewhat painful at first but when even my neurons started to explode, the pain quickly came and went away. The process took only a few minutes and I stood inside a ruined boat cabin, completely changed.
I didn't have the cool, my senses are enhanced moment that every hero goes through after getting their powers though. I was already seeing things on an informational level. There isn't a higher level of sense than that. The range of how far I can sense information from had increased though.
The most obvious change was my physical appearance. Through the shattered mirror on the floor, I saw that I became more muscular and taller and my face looked more symmetrical and attractive. I didn't like that though. I preferred my earlier appearance more. The lean but strong body I had trained myself was the best.
Just as I thought of it, my body slowly morphed into my original appearance. It was another one of my powers. I could control my own body freely, I had biokinesis. This is too exciting. I need to explore more of my powers.
But first, I have to get out of here. My metamorphosis should have released a large amount of energy. There will be people approaching this place soon. So, I took out the gallon of gasoline, poured it inside the boat, and set it on fire before stealthily diving into the water.
I should be able to turn invisible right? I thought and my body responded. Light started to bend in an unnatural way around me and I disappeared. I didn't need to breathe underwater and could swim freely but I wanted to try and fly in the sky.
So, I tried and really floated out of the water into the sky. I didn't make any big movements though. I didn't want to be detected by any strange equipment. Floating slowly, I reached a very high position and just sat there waiting.
Thinking back, I confirmed a theory I had about my consciousness after taking the serum. My consciousness can exist independently of my physical mind. It is more like an ever-expanding dimension and my mind is just the key or a connection point to the outside universe.
Technically, even if I died, my consciousness would exist forever but without having any method to contact the outside universe. Not the best kind of existence method.
I didn't have to wait too long before Iron Man and Reed Richards arrived around the same time. They only nodded at each other before starting to take out devices to read the ambient energy around the boat while extinguishing the fire.
After a while, they collected enough data and started to converse while staying far away from the official organizations that came to investigate. "Did you find anything?" Stark asked.
"Not much. There was a massive energy discharge here, similar in nature to a solar wind. But I didn't find any device or equipment that could've caused it. Maybe, we can find out more if we find the person who drove this boat here." Reed answered.
"They will do that for us. I need to get back to prepare my new armor." With no leads, Tony left it up to SHIELD and the authorities to investigate the matter. It was an abnormal event but those happened frequent enough for him to not dwell on it too much.
Reed looked at the boat once again before he left the scene too. He will probably still conduct some investigations and tests when he gets back.
With nothing to see there, I flew to my office building and entered unnoticed. The moment I entered the office, I saw Sage sitting there, staring at me. "You took it without telling me didn't you?" She asked, her voice cracking a bit.
"I didn't want to worry you. And I made sure it was safe, here I am safe and sound." I tried consoling her but she backed away a little at my approach.
"It's not about the safety. It's about you doing it without letting me know. At this rate, you will remain single forever." My heart sank a little, she seems to be really pissed.
I wanted to explain myself and apologize but she didn't let me, "Save your apologies. Did you have something like Void appear in your mind too? What are the effects of the serum?"
I sighed, I might have to do something big this time as an apology. "I could feel my negative emotions trying to separate during the transformation but the moment they separated from my consciousness, I processed them into information state so it didn't get to take form and assimilated into myself."
Sage nodded, "That's good. Or I'd have to kill you now. What about the effects?"
I hoped that the part about killing me was a joke but I'm sure she must've prepared cures or countermeasures in case I did have a problem. I had some prepared as well.
"Biokinesis, Flight, Superhuman physique, Photokinesis are so far the ones I have tested. The limitations on my previous abilities have been lifted as well so I'm technically a real Laplace's demon now. For other things, we need to test and explore more." I answered my findings so far.
"What are the limits of those powers? How is your control over them?" Damn, Sage is so angry that she turned professional with me.
"Do you want to test my superhuman physique with me?" I tried flirting a little to see if it would lighten the mood. But the next second, a dagger was already flying at me, which I caught easily.
"Sure. Your reflexes seem to have improved greatly." Sage continued nonchalantly and then went on to put me through multiple tests.
