Lily found herself puzzled. How could someone who had discussed flowers with Alex end up causing problems for her husband? Furthermore, the police were involved in this issue, and all these troubles seemed to be connected to dogs. 

The more Lily contemplated it, the more perplexed she became. She had briefly considered the possibility that Mr. Weber might be deceiving her family Because selling an unusual plant at a high price, but upon further reflection, that seemed unlikely.

It was impossible that he would risk his reputation as a professor for a small profit. With this in mind, Lily could only conclude that Mr. Weber's words held some truth, even though he couldn't quite grasp the full meaning.

"I don't know, Russell," Lily confessed. "I'm unsure about the details, but he mentioned the police, a video, and something about dogs."
