Alex was completely caught off guard by the abrupt turn of events. He had never anticipated that the commotion at his house would lead to such an accusation.

As Alex was still in a state of shock, Lily emerged from the house and cast a complex look at him.

"Sir, are we ready to go?" the police officer asked, attempting to snap Alex out of his stupor.

Awakening from his daze, Alex felt confusion washing over him before he finally inquired, "Officer, may I inquire about the situation? I haven't done anything wrong; I'm a law-abiding citizen."

The police officers, maintaining a procedural demeanor, explained, "You see, sir, we received a report last night alleging that you had mistreated an elderly man who remains unconscious. Therefore, we need to investigate to ascertain the truth. If you are indeed innocent and a law-abiding citizen, we kindly request your cooperation in accompanying us to the police station for questioning."
