a note on Andrea’s desk that he should not be given access to the agency's database during the internship. His role should be limited to the lab only. Better be safe than sorry.

An hour later, sipping a cup of coffee while busy perusing through the files Zoya had sent, Maurice Nemesio walked in.

“Sir,” he announced himself.

“You are just on time,” I said and put the cup of coffee down. “Follow me.”

We walked to the HR office, and I found Andrea had already arrived.

“Captain Ace. I got your note,” she smiled at me. “And this must be Maurice Nemesio.”

“Yes, ma’am,” he responded politely.

“I will leave him in your care for the induction program. Once done, bring him back.”

“Yes, sir,” she nodded.

I left the HR office and went back to my desk. On the outer look, Maurice looked innocent and straightforward. Could he be a spy? Only time would tell.
