章 21: Chapter 21: The Boy With 99% Blood Purity

Mill is waiting for his results to see if he passed the entrance exams so that he can become an adventurer, but he is not the only one. In fact, the city that he lives in is just one of many that holds the Heroite event on the continent of Eidron and it is actually one of the smaller cities. Aeulwuin is set in the southeast part of Eidron and is where Mill has been staying for the past five years but there are far bigger cities in different parts of the continent. For example, in the very center of the country sits the capital city of Yenden.

Yenden was made to commemorate the final battle between Kinteth Yenders, The First Legend, and Agralon, the Ancient Disaster. It is a very bustling city and home to many aspiring adventurers as well as prominent family bloodlines. The most prominent family in Yenden is of course the Yenders family seeing as it's the family that oversees the ongoings of the city. The Yenders family is one of the most influential families in Eidron do to the numerous powerful and well-known adventurers that sprouted from the family. If a family wanted to increase their influence in the country, then they would try to win the favor of the Yenders family.

The Yenders family is very powerful family and hold their ancestor's bloodline in high regard. Though they are not against other families' bloodlines they just care more about their own. They even send their own children to the local adventuring academy so that they can be well cultivated, and they even have their own personal Heroite machine. Everyone else has to go to the Kinteth Memorial Hall to for the Heroite which is in fact today.

A few representatives of Yenden Adventuring Academy were there to watch over the event and pick out any potential talents for the academy and things weren't going too well. "This is gonna be a bust. I mean there hasn't even been a single blood purity over 27%." The male representative said. "Just be patient. We didn't come here to expect anything crazy we're just trying to see if there is anyone that the academy should be watching out for. If there aren't any then that's all there is to it, and we just have to report that no special talents this year."

The representatives were on the second floor of the of the building and all of the people coming to take part in the Heroite were on the first floor including a young boy with tattered clothing. He seemed to be homeless based on his disposition and how he stood out in the crowd people were trying to actively avoid the boy.

"Hey, watch it you disgusting urchin." A man snapped as the boy ran into his leg. "I-I'm sorry, sir. I just lost my balance because I haven't eaten since this morning." The boy tried to explain but the man had already lost all interest in him. "I knew I shouldn't have come here. No, Beel! The last thing that mom asked you to do before dying was to see attend the Heroite so that's what you're gonna do." This person is Beel Greynold and he, if it isn't obvious, isn't in the best situation financially. Even in this wonderful city there are still low points and Beel lives in one of the lowest.

You see, in this city anyone can attend the Heroite once they come of age it's just that the of lower social standing tend to try their best to stay away from large events like this, but there are a few that come in hopes of changing their standing. Beel, however, is just here to satisfy his mother's dying wish. 'I still don't know why she was so insistent that I do this, but hey she always said that I was special so let's see how right she was.' Beel pushed his way through the crowd as best as he could but there was one thing that had been holding him back.

Gggrrrooowwll. A low deep rumbling within Beel's stomach. "God, would you shut up already. I know that you want food, but I ain't got it." Beel gripped his stomach tightly and tried his best to ignore it. "Think about it like this, if we do something good here, we might just get some food. Does that sound good?" As if responding to him Beel's stomach stopped rumbling and gave two more short rumbles. "Good boy." Beel patted his stomach gently and continued to move.

It took a little while, but he eventually made it to the machine. There was a man in a lab coat next to the machine that was looking Beel up and down. The man sighed," Please use this needle to prick your finger and then place it onto the machine." Beel looked at the needle and rubbed his hands on the cleanest part of his pants before taking the needle and pricking his finger. Beel took a deep breath and placed his hand on the machine, 'Let's hope that this ends well.' It took a few seconds before the displayed the results and called out.

"Wow, I guess mom was right." Beel stared at the screen shock. The people in the surrounding area were arguably more shocked than he was because they were completely frozen. "99%? Kate has anyone ever had that high of a-" The male representative turned to his colleague only to see that she was gone. He looked around when he found her making her way through the crowd towards Beel. "Oh, come on Kathleen. You can't just go off like that." The man leaped over the rails and went to follow.

Beel took a step away from the machine with a blank stare on his face when he felt a hand turn him around and was met with a woman staring daggers into him. "Where did you come from who are you?" Beel didn't know how to react, so he just didn't. "Hey, are you gonna answer me or not?" The woman shook Beel until her colleague came and pulled her off of him. "Alright Kate, back off of the kid."

"But Shin! He's an illegitimate child of the Yenders family with the highest blood purity that has ever existed in this Heroite era." Kate tried to pull herself from Shin's grasp, but she couldn't due to his strong grip. "I know that, but if you look at the kid, I don't think that he knew it either." Kate turned and looked back at Beel and now that she had actually stopped and took a look at him, she realized that he was covered in dirt, bruises, and blood.

If she had to assume when his last bath was, she would guess that it had been at least a month or two and that was the best that she could come up with. "Hey lady, could you tell me what you wanted?" Beel walked a little closer to the woman with his head slightly to the side.

"Oh, um, yes actually! Could you please tell me your name boy?" Kate gently grabbed Beel's hand and knelt down slightly as she asked this. Beel thought it was slightly strange, but shrugged and told her," Beel Greynold is what my mother always called me, so I tend to go by that." Kate took out a little notepad and wrote down his name. "Nice to meet you, Beel. My name is Kathleen, but you can call me Kate, and this is Shinsu." She gestured to her colleague, and he nodded at Beel. "You can just call me Shin. We're representing the Yenden Adventuring Academy this Heroite to find any potential talents. We didn't think that. We would have anything to bring back until you showed up from under the radar."

"I mean I guess that's cool but what does that have to do with me." Beel slowly removed his hand from Kate's grasp as and backed a few steps away. "Well, we-"

"They have nothing to tell with you Beel Greynold Yenders." Kate was cut off by a man with bright white clothing with purple decals on it. The man also had luminescent purple hair and eyes. Everyone cleared out because they understood this man's importance for, he was a part of the Yenders family as could be told by his hair and eyes. The man walked up to Beel and looked at him with indifference. "What did you just call me?" Beel asked the man.

"You, as of today, are known as Beel Greynold Yenders now that the details of the contract signed by your mother have been completed. Welcome to the family." Beel looked at the man with even more confused than before. "What do you mean that my mother signed a contract? What kind of contract?" The Yenders family member let out an impatient sigh.

"Listen here, boy! 16 years ago, your mother managed to get in bed with a member of our family and was implanted with you as a result. An unagreed upon child is against the Yenders family rules, so we made your mother sign a contract that said if you were discovered to have the bloodline of our ancestor that you would be taken in by our family. Do you understand now?" Beel looked at the man and thought about what he said. 'This must be why mom was so insistent that I attend the Heroite. She really was amazing.'

Beel waited for a few seconds before responding. "One question?" The man looked at Beel and said, "And what would that be?" Beel smiled at the man and placed his hand on his stomach.

"Will you feed me if I go?"
