章 116: The Immense Power of Zephyr, Carl in Danger

The confrontation had taken an unexpected turn as Carl, with his relentless attacks, had managed to land some significant blows on Zephyr. The enigmatic hero was no longer the invincible figure he initially appeared to be.

Zephyr, now in a defensive stance, struggled to regain control over the chaotic winds that Carl's attacks had unleashed. Blood trickled from his wounds, a clear sign that Carl's strategy was working. But Zephyr was no ordinary hero, and he wasn't about to be defeated easily.

With a sudden burst of energy, Zephyr managed to reestablish his control over the air. He created a powerful wind barrier that repelled Carl's bone projectiles. The hero's wounds began to heal, closing up as if they had never existed.

"You're persistent, I'll give you that," Zephyr admitted, his voice laced with a hint of admiration. "But it's time to end this."

With a fierce determination, Zephyr took a deep breath and channeled his powers to the fullest extent. The air around him began to swirl violently, forming a massive cyclone. The winds grew stronger and more turbulent, creating a devastating force that threatened to overpower everything in its path.

Carl, now faced with this overwhelming display of power, knew he had to act quickly. He focused his flux, preparing for a final, desperate maneuver. His bone armor expanded and transformed into a set of wings, allowing him to take flight.

With the wind cyclone growing ever closer, Carl launched himself into the air. He soared above the trees, trying to gain altitude and evade the impending tempest. The dark skies and howling winds created an apocalyptic scene, one that reflected the intensity of their battle.

Zephyr, however, wasn't about to let Carl escape so easily. He extended his hand, sending a concentrated burst of wind toward the airborne villain. The powerful gust struck Carl, sending him tumbling through the air, his bone wings unable to withstand the force.

As Carl struggled to regain control, he realized the gravity of the situation. Zephyr's wind cyclone was closing in, and if he were caught in its midst, the consequences would be catastrophic. He needed a plan, and fast.

With a burst of inspiration, Carl activated another gadget that Blorg had provided him. This one generated a localized electromagnetic pulse (EMP). The pulse disrupted Zephyr's wind manipulation, causing the cyclone to disperse and the hero's control over the air to falter.

Seizing this critical moment, Carl reestablished control over his bone armor and soared away from the dissipating cyclone. He knew that his EMP wouldn't have a lasting effect on Zephyr, but it had bought him the precious time he needed to regroup and strategize.

As Carl descended to the forest floor, he took cover among the trees, hidden from Zephyr's view. He could hear the hero's frustration as the winds settled, and he began to scan the area in search of his elusive adversary.

Carl quickly started moving in order to get away as Zephyr used his wind again. A powerful gust of wind started blowing, moving the trees as Zephyr started looking for Carl, and the latter knew that it would only be a matter of time before he was found.

Zephyr continued searching, destroying many trees in the process as he looked like he was a man possessed.

As for Carl, he was doing his best not to be discovered as his thoughts raced.

'He is clearly more powerful than me, I most likely won't be able to win against him, only if I use the third ability might I possess a chance of winning, but it's risky.'

'If I show that ability, I have to kill him, I can't let him go back and report it to the HA.'

'A hero that is unknown, one that hides in the shadows and hunts villains, that makes it obvious who he belongs to.'

'A 'Hunter.'

Hunters were special kinds of heroes that the HA possessed. They were more akin to villains, it was just that differently from villains, the hunters of the HA don't cause chaos for the civilians, well, most of the time they don't.

They could be best described as villains that hunt other villains.

Some villains that get caught by the HA become hunters in the end. Of course, that is a small percentage of them as most that get captured either stay captured or killed and only a few manage to escape or become hunters.

As the search continued, Zephyr suddenly clicked his tongue.

"Seems like only using one ability won't be enough after all."

Just as his words finished, he suddenly moved his arm and had his wind intercept another wind that was blown at him from the side.

The dark green wind and Zephyr's wind collided as Zephyr simply glanced at it.

"Really, is this the best you can do, trying to win with wind?!"

"I am disappointed boy, I thought you would have realized by now that my control over wind is much superior to yours, even if your wind is special, it is still just wind."

Zephyr said with a smirk before his eyes widened as he glanced to the side, only to see the fierce wind of his dissipate as it became mixed with Carl's Wind of Desolation.

"What?!"

What Zephyr didn't know was that Carl's wind didn't just weaken people, it would drain anything of power, including the wind itself.

By thinking he could simply use his superior control over the wind to block Carl's wind, he had walked into a trap.

His control over the wind was gone as it lost power, and before Zephyr was able to do anything, his scalp tingled as he turned around, only to see Carl who had once again created his bone wings and had appeared behind him.

Before Zephyr was able to respond, Carl suddenly stabbed forward with a bone lance that covered his entire arm and was about 2.5 meters long.

The lance easily stabbed through Zephyr's chest, destroying his heart.

Carl was panting as he had used a lot of flux in a short period of time, but he had killed Zephyr.

"Are you serious right now, do you really think this is enough?" Zephyr's voice made Carl's eyes constrict to a needlepoint as he looked up, only to see Zephyr who was staring at him coldly before grabbing his lance.

The hunter's body started changing suddenly. His muscles started bulging and moving as if there were snakes that were moving below his skin.

The lance was pushed out of the chest and Carl was sent flying back as Zephyr fell down to the ground as well.

A cloud of dust rose as the two crashed on the ground before Carl quickly stood up, the bone armor around him cracked and no longer as useful as before.

As for Zephyr, upon seeing him, Carl widened his eyes as he gulped.

Zephyr went from a man that stood at about 1.8 meters tall and had medium-length blonde hair and green eyes, to a man that wore a formal suit even during the battle, to a monstrosity that was about 2.5 meters tall.

His muscles were enormous and each step Zephyr took in this new body of his caused the ground to shake. His hair was gone as well, as was his suit and his previously calm and collected demeanor.

Zephyr didn't speak, he simply moved and appeared in front of Carl before punching him and sending him flying. Carl crashed through 5 trees before he finally stopped, but Zephyr was not finished.

He appeared in front of Lyle again and stomped him, then grabbed his leg and started swinging him around, breaking a couple of trees by using his body as a bat, and then he smashed him against the ground multiple times before throwing him away and slowly walking over to him, stopping about 4 meters away from him.

Carl stood up, albeit barely. His body hurt like crazy, many bones were broken and he was barely able to stay conscious.

"See boy, this is the difference between me and you, this is what I meant when I said you were outmatched in every single way!"

"Even with only my weaker ability, you were barely able to do anything, only after tricking me were you able to deal an injury."

"But now, now that is gone boy."

Zephyr laughed as Carl stared ahead before chuckling.

"Damn, you look freaking ugly."

Zephyr stopped laughing before chuckling at Carl.

"Will those be your last words?"

"No, I'm just happy that at least I won't be the ugliest-looking person around here after doing what I'm about to do," Carl said with a smile before Zephyr's face changed.

His expression warped as he suddenly felt immense danger from Carl who should no longer be a threat to him. The boy was broken, his body barely functioning, and yet, he was emanating an aura that made Zephyr feel powerless.

"Now, let me show you, just how wide the difference between me and you truly is, Zephyr," Carl said before he smiled at Zephyr and suddenly used his third ability.
