章 115: Clash of Powers: The Eerie Confrontation

The eerie confrontation between Carl and the enigmatic HA hero escalated rapidly. The villain's surprise attack had failed to catch the agile hero off guard. Carl realized he was dealing with an adversary who was far from ordinary.

The hero's strange abilities were immediately evident. His movements defied the laws of physics, allowing him to appear and disappear seemingly at will. He had dodged Carl's wind attack with astonishing agility even before the attack was even launched.

Carl knew that facing this enemy head-on was a perilous prospect. Their previous exchange had revealed the hero's strength, one that was obviously above what Carl could deal with. He was a formidable opponent that Carl needed to be cautious of.

Undeterred by the hero's taunts and the situation's perilous nature, Carl maintained his focus. He knew the only thing he could do was try and stall and hope the council noticed what was going on and sent help.

In the worst-case scenario, he might have to call Carla and have her save him, something he truly didn't wish to do.

'Stalling is the name of the game,' Carl thought as he analyzed the situation. With the weapons that Blorg had created, Carl launched a barrage of attacks. It was an attempt to keep the hero at bay and gain some breathing space.

He used the gun to shoot compressed air bullets at the hero and swung his sword, causing some thin sword rays to be launched forward at the hero.

The power sword was a great weapon that allowed the user to use flux to coat the sword with it, allowing it to possess remarkable durability and cutting power, but if one was proficient enough in utilizing flux, they could also send that coating forward, transforming it into a long-range attack

The hero, however, displayed remarkable agility, weaving between the blades with uncanny grace. It was a dance of skill and power, with Carl struggling to gain the upper hand.

As they clashed, the hero revealed more about his unique abilities. "My name is Zephyr, a code name that suits my powers. I manipulate the very air around us, allowing me to control wind, create vacuums, and disrupt the energy of those who oppose me. You're not the first to underestimate me, and you won't be the last."

Carl processed this information, realizing that Zephyr's control over the air made him an exceedingly dangerous adversary. His power over the wind and energy disruption added a layer of complexity to the confrontation.

One thing he truly didn't understand was why Zephyr had told Carl all of that. After all, compared to most villains and heroes that seemingly enjoyed spreading word of their powers, Zephyr seemed different, after all, he was not present in the HA's database and was unknown to Carl completely, which showed that he was truly different.

With his blades ineffective, Carl decided to change tactics. He used another gadget, one that was able to create barriers that Carl used to protect himself, maintaining a safe distance from Zephyr's erratic movements.

However, Zephyr seemed unfazed by Carl's defensive approach. He simply extended his hand, creating a concentrated vortex of wind that cut through the barriers with ease. Carl's protection was shattered, and he was forced to leap back, narrowly avoiding a potentially devastating blow.

Carl's mind raced as he tried to think of a way to counter Zephyr's power. He knew he needed to conserve his energy for the upcoming arrival of the two S-grade villains. Their intervention might be the key to turning the tide of this perilous encounter.

Zephyr continued to taunt Carl, his voice filled with a mix of amusement and arrogance. "Your gadgets and ability are no match for me, little villain. You're outclassed in every way."

Carl stared at Zephyr before exhaling deeply and using his bone manipulation. Bones suddenly grow from inside of him and create a sort of armor for Carl. Of course, the armor was not only for defensive purposes as the arms and legs were sharpened, allowing Carl to not only defend but attack with them as well.

"You also have a second ability?!" Zephyr asked with shock before he clicked his tongue in frustration.

'Also?!' Carl's eyes constricted before he thought back to how Zephyr had appeared in front of him the first time. He had actually come out of John's body.

Carl's revelation about Zephyr's emergence from John's body sent a shiver down his spine. It was becoming evident that Zephyr's powers were not only unique but also deeply enigmatic. The hero's control over the wind was a simple one, but the one he used to come out of John was unlike anything Carl had encountered before.

With his bone armor in place, Carl was more formidable and versatile in combat. The bone blades could serve as both a means of defense and offense. It was a desperate attempt to level the playing field, even if just slightly.

Zephyr's shock at Carl's second ability was a brief moment of advantage for the villain. He seized the opportunity to strike. The sharp bone blades extended, aiming to strike Zephyr with precision.

However, Zephyr, despite his momentary surprise, was quick to react. He manipulated the air to create a barrier that deflected the bone blades, preventing them from making contact.

"Interesting," Zephyr said, his voice laced with intrigue. "It seems you have more tricks up your sleeve than I initially thought. But you'll need more than that to defeat me."

The confrontation continued, with Carl's bone armor against Zephyr's control over wind. The clash was a high-stakes dance of power, with neither combatant willing to yield.

Carl's desperation grew with each passing moment. Zephyr's abilities were overwhelming, and it seemed that no matter what he tried, the hero had an answer. But Carl was determined to hold his ground, knowing that the council would arrive soon, and he needed to buy time.

The battle raged on, with Carl's bone armor protecting him from Zephyr's attacks. He was agile and relentless, launching strikes and bone projectiles at the hero, trying to keep him on the defensive. Zephyr, on the other hand, used his control over the wind to evade, deflect, and counter Carl's every move.

Their fight had drawn the attention of nearby residents, who watched in awe and fear as these two powerful adversaries clashed. Some of them recorded the battle on their smartphones, hoping to capture the spectacle for the world to see.

As the battle continued, Carl's thoughts raced. He needed a way to turn the tide of the fight, even if just temporarily.

With a burst of inspiration, Carl decided to try a different approach. He began to focus his flux, the energy source that powered his abilities, in a concentrated manner. He channeled the flux into his bone armor, reinforcing it and making it even sharper and more durable.

The bone armor began to take on a more menacing appearance, with spikes and blades protruding from it. Carl's eyes glowed with intensity as he launched a powerful bone projectile at Zephyr, aiming for a direct hit. The projectile was faster and more deadly than before, and it caught Zephyr off guard.

Zephyr attempted to create a wind barrier, but the enhanced bone projectile sliced through it, striking the hero's shoulder. Zephyr winced in pain as the bone blade made contact, and a small, bleeding gash appeared on his shoulder.

Carl seized the opportunity to press his advantage. He lunged at Zephyr, his bone armor ready to strike. Zephyr, however, wasn't one to be underestimated. With a swift movement, he created a powerful gust of wind, pushing Carl back and dislodging the bone blade from his shoulder. Zephyr's wound began to heal rapidly, closing up as if it had never been there.

"Nice try," Zephyr taunted, his voice filled with a mixture of amusement and annoyance. "But you're still outmatched."

Carl knew he couldn't let up. He needed to keep the pressure on Zephyr and find a way to exploit his weaknesses. The hero's control over the air made him formidable, but there had to be limits to his power.

As they continued to clash, Carl noticed something peculiar. Zephyr's movements seemed to be more erratic and unpredictable when he used his wind manipulation to create vacuums. It was as if Zephyr's control over the air was less precise in those moments.

Carl decided to test this observation. He launched a series of rapid bone projectiles at Zephyr, forcing him to create vacuums to defend himself. The hero's movements became more chaotic as he struggled to maintain control over the air.

Carl seized the opportunity and lunged at Zephyr with all his might. His bone armor sliced through the erratic wind currents, finding its mark and striking the hero. Zephyr let out a cry of pain as he staggered backward, blood oozing from the wounds inflicted by the bone blades.

Carl continued to press his advantage, launching a barrage of bone projectiles and attacks. Zephyr was on the defensive, trying to regain control over the air. It was a critical moment in their battle, and Carl knew he had to keep the pressure on.
