章 66: Villainous Promotions and Explosive Plans

[ The host has managed to kill his first B-grade monster while only possessing the power of a peak C-grade, additional rewards will be given. ]

[ One of the host's villains has managed to kill 3 B-grade monsters by himself and has killed over 100 monsters during the outbreak, additional rewards shall be given. ]
Carl's lips twitched a bit as he stared at the third villain who had managed to kill and injure more monsters than Isabella and him together.
'What the hell did that bastard do?!'
'Three, he managed to kill three B-grade monsters!'
'Blorg, how the hell do you keep doing such things?!'
[ The system is calculating the rewards, please wait for a bit. ]
Just as Carl was going to respond, his phone suddenly rang. He took it out, only to see that the caller was none other than Lucius.
"Yes, boss?"
"Hey, so … it's Blorg again."
"I … I know," Carl said with a sigh.
"Seriously man, what the hell have you done to him, he killed 3 B-grade monsters outside of the walls, his achievement this time is higher than most B-grade villains!"
"He's going to be promoted because of this again, and because of all the things you have done, you can expect a promotion as well, even though it's still not been given, congrats on becoming a B-grade handler and villain, I'm sure it won't take you too long to surprise me and the higher-ups again," Lucius said with a smirk before sighing.
"I sent you a short video, it was taken by a wanderer outside of the walls, it's getting quite popular, it's a part of Blorg's battle."
Carl thanked Lucius before hanging up and checking out the video that he had received.
The video was taken a couple of miles away from the region Carl was in and it showed a dense forest in it. The camera moved and one could suddenly see a patch of the forest that was devoid of any trees, they had all been broken apart or cut apart, and there, inside a small hill, one could see an opening and multiple turrets that were firing.
Suddenly, numerous sword waves came out of the hill, cutting apart the monsters before two enormous sword lights erupted from the hill, cutting a portion of the hill, which was where Blorg's hidden base was, and killing two large monsters with ease.
The person filming was panting heavily, either from excitement, fear or perhaps because he had been moving through a forest that had monsters in it.
Just as the video was about to end, a laser beam came out of the hill, penetrating through multiple monsters and killing them all while setting some of the trees ablaze.
The video stopped when something suddenly came outside of the base and made its way toward the person filming who quickly dropped whatever he was using to film the scene.
'He … he managed to get two of the powerful sword waves and the strongest laser beam, was he truly lucky, or did Blorg calibrate the weapon to be a bit more dependable?' Carl asked himself as he sat down on the sofa in the living room as Isabella went to the other apartment to get changed.
The underground area they were in had showers and even some spare clothes for them all, but she was more comfortable in her own clothes.
Carl was sitting as he watched the video a couple of more times before he decided to call Blorg, who immediately picked up the call.
"Hahahahah, brother, you must have seen that video huh?"
"Yes, I've seen it."
"Whacha think, I killed quite a number of those annoying monsters huh?"
"Yes, you truly did."
"I think I'm going to get promoted soon."
"Yes, you truly might get promoted."
"The only bad thing is that I now need to change the location of my base, those annoying heroes will probably try and attack me soon."
"Yes, they truly will try to."
"You know, I already had a secondary base, I'm there right now, it's just so small and not equipped well, I'm going to go find some mountain and dig in it, I'm going to make a massive base this time, so even if those annoying heroes try to attack me, I can kill them all!"
"Yes, you truly might do that."
"You know, I was thinking man, I'm going to make a self-destruction protocol in the new base, so even if the worst happens and the heroes manage to break through it, I will detonate the entire base and destroy the entire mountain, burying them all inside!!!!"
"Yes, you truly could try that."
Carl continued answering in the same monotone voice the entire time as Blorg continued boasting and telling him of his future plans. To say that Carl was not annoyed by the fact the villain that was supposed to be the weakest one had managed to kill the most monsters wouldn't be true.
He simply had no idea how Blorg managed to surpass his grade time and time again.
The first time could be said to be a fluke, Blorg had simply managed to get lucky and hit the B-grade hero from a crazy distance, but now, it was different.
To actually manage to get the most powerful attack from his crazily unreliable weapon three times in a row was simply too much to be called a coincidence, and Carl was beginning to believe that Blorg had been pretending this entire time.
Could Blorg be an incredibly talented and intelligent villain who was simply laying low for the last couple of years?
Could it be that Blorg's items weren't really slot machines, but were in fact items that only he could utilize well?
Did he make them in such a way that if anybody stole one of his items, they wouldn't be able to rely on them, but Blorg could always get whatever he needed out of them?
Carl didn't know, he simply couldn't be 100% certain of it.
'Are you sure I can't see Blorg's status, just a little bit of it?' Carl asked the system who seemingly scoffed at him.
[ No, and stop talking to me, I'm still calculating the rewards. ]
Carl shook his head as he continued listening to Blorg.
"So, bro, I've been thinking, should I put a 3-minute countdown on the self-destruction protocol or 2, what do you think?"
"Ummm, how long would it take you to get to safety once you activate it?"
"Just a couple of seconds, I can activate it from afar, so not that big of an issue."
Carl suddenly blinked several times before putting a hand over his face and exhaling deeply.
"So Blorg, why would you give the heroes 2 or 3 minutes to escape or deactivate the self-destruction protocol when you can activate it from afar?"
"I dunno, seems like the right thing to do, give them a bit of a fright, see them squirm as they try to escape or deactivate it, you know?"
"Well … how about you set it at like 5 seconds, but get the base to say that there are only a couple of minutes left till it self-destructs."
"That way, the heroes will feel fear and try to get away or deactivate it, but unbeknownst to them, the base will explode in just 5 seconds, taking them all by surprise and killing them all."
"And instead of 5 seconds, put like 3 seconds, that should be enough."
"Hmmm…" Blorg suddenly started thinking deeply before he agreed with Carl.
"Yeah, that works, that will be even better."
"Thanks, bro, I knew I could rely on you, I'm gonna go and find a suitable mountain now, talk to you later!"
Carl put the phone down before sighing.
"How the hell is somebody like him a B-grade?"
"Are you talking about Blorg?" Carla suddenly asked Carl as she appeared behind him and placed her arms around his neck.
"Yeah, I guess you heard the news?"
"Mhmm," Carla said as she put her chin on Carl's head.
"The new offices will be in Progency City, it seems like we'll have to move." Carla told Carl as she let go off him and sat down on the sofa with him.
