At Finley's serious words, which were phrased like a demand rather than a suggestion, Abrial flushed even more, frowning in confusion at her own reaction. Why was she feeling flustered by this? And why was Finley treating her differently all of a sudden? She had never demanded anything of Abrial—at least, not in such a serious voice. And she had never touched Abrial's hair in a way that was the slightest bit harsh, like now—granted, it could hardly be called harsh…It was more of a firm hold on Abrial's hair.

Finley was watching her reactions very closely, like she was gauging whether Abrial was flustered or not. Upon seeing the red explode over Abrial's face, Finley's mouth twitched, like she was making note of something. She looked Abrial very seriously in the eyes again, releasing her hair gently.
