Albert rubbed his neck as he sat in the cafeteria. There wasn't a bruise, or even any physical pain. It was the memory that bothered him. The look in Sheree's eyes as she choked him was horrifying. It was almost as if she didn't care if she killed him. He knew she found him annoying, but to want him dead was a bit much. To make it even worse, he was completely helpless to stop her. The moment she gripped him with her power he was at her mercy.
I was supposed to be the golden child, the first person ever known to have a second power, he thought to himself. Look at me now, getting dominated by someone I'm supposed to be stronger than, he continued.
When he saw Sheree and Elliot walk in the door his heart fluttered. He wanted to look away, but he couldn't. He didn't care one way or the other about Elliot, but Sheree was special. She was the first person he had spoken to when he got to the university. He wondered if she even remembered the conversation they had that day. Well, it was an exchange of words. He talked about himself at length, and she gave one word responses. She told him she was native american and an orphan. He told her that he was bi-racial with a black mom and white dad. They talked for a while about the differences in the way they grew up. He was raised in a two parent home and highly celebrated for being so special. Sheree was raised in a group home. She didn't go into any details about anything, but Albert knew it wasn't a happy life.
"God, she's pretty," Albert whispered as her eyes met his.
Ever since they met he had been smitten with her, it had to be her exotic look. What else could it be, she wasn't nice to him. She barely even spoke to him anymore, ever since that prick Elliot showed up. What was so special about Elliot anyway? He's nothing more than a weakling that attacks first and thinks later. Maybe it had something to do with the ranking up problems they both had. It would suck if that was true though, because that would mean that Albert could never be with Sheree like he wanted to, because he was born gifted.
Sheree walked away with Elliot and Albert dropped his head into his hands. He could probably be with any female on campus, and the only one he had eyes for seemed to hate him.
"So you like skinny chicks?" someone said and sat next to him.
Albert looked up and saw a chubby, white girl with blue hair staring at him. Her eyes were a lovely mixture of green and brown. Albert stared into them longer than he probably should've.
"Wow, usually dudes stare at my tits like that," the girl said and laughed.
"Sorry, that was strange," Albert said and looked away from her eyes. He glanced at her breasts while doing so. They were pretty large, they looked heavy.
"See, there you go. Now I feel welcome," she said, obviously catching his quick glance.
Who was this girl, and why did she seem so comfortable around him, Albert thought as he gave her a sideways glance.
"You never answered me though. Is that your type?" she asked as she watched Sheree walk through the kitchen with Elliot.
"I don't know if I have a type, " Albert said. "Also, do I know you?"
"No, we never met before, but I saw you and thought you were cute, so I'm shooting my shot, I'm Rayne by the way" she said and extended a hand for him to shake.
"I'm Albert, is your name rain, like the stuff that falls from the sky?" he asked and gave her his full attention.
"It's pronounced the same, but spelled differently. My parents were hippies," She said and grinned.
"That's cool, I wish my name was something better than Albert. It's so forgettable," he said. He still wasn't happy but she was starting to become a nice distraction.
"Ha, imagine you and your girl getting it on and she forgets your name. She'd be like ohh.... Umm... you," Rayne slapped the table as she laughed. Deep dimples appeared in her cheeks when she laughed.
Albert wanted to keep feeling sorry for himself, but she was making it impossible.
"If I had a girl and that happened, I think I would snap," he said with a slight nod.
"You would snap and do what? You seem like a pushover to me," Rayne said, her eyes seem to challenge Albert.
"I am not!" was all Albert could say in response.
"Okay then, truth or dare?" Rayne asked. Her words were laced with a dangerous seduction.
Albert thought before responding, he shouldn't feed into it. He knew the right thing to do was walk away, but he really wanted to see where this led.
"Truth," he said and drummed his fingers on his lap. What have I gotten myself into? He thought as she searched her mind for a question.
"Okay, are you a virgin?" Rayne asked, as if it wasn't deeply personal.
Albert's breath caught in his throat.
"Wow, that's extremely personal," he said, trying to avoid her question.
"You said truth, so answer the question. No cop outs," Rayne said sternly.
"Okay, okay yes I am," He said and wiped his, now sweaty, palms on his pant legs. This was oddly exciting for him. It made him nervous but in a good way.
"Okay, I choose truth too, but nothing lame?" Rayne said and rubbed her hands together eagerly. The light reflected off the bear paw emblem on her pendant and caught Albert's attention.
"When you said you wanted to shoot your shot with me, what exactly did you mean?" Albert said. He knew what the phrase meant, he wanted to know what her plan was.
"I wanted to talk to you, see if you were more than a waste of a pretty face," She said easily.
"That's all you wanted?" Albert asked, slightly deflated by her answer.
"Well, I mean if you were cool then at some point I would have to jump your bones, but for now I'm taking it slow," she said with a giggle.
Albert laughed along with her. He officially liked her, she was funny. "Okay I guess I'll do truth again," he said, this time he was eager to answer her.
"Would you ever date a girl that looked like me?" Rayne asked him. He could tell she had wanted to ask him that earlier because of how fast it came to her.
He studied her body. She was heavy, but he had super strength. Other than that all he could think about was how her full lips probably tasted. Then he stared at her large breasts again. The pink, net top over a black tank top combo made them look irresistible to him.
"Stop eye fucking me and answer the question," she said and waved her hand in front of him.
"Oh, yeah I would definitely date you," Albert said and rubbed his chin.
"That's good to know, well I got what I wanted out of this?" She said and smiled.
"So what is it done now?" Albert asked. He did not want the game to be done yet, he was just getting into it.
"Well, I kinda wanna take a walk with you. I heard that's the kind of romantic shit people do on clear nights like tonight," She said and stood up. There was a cautiously optimistic look on her face.
"After the day I've had that sounds like exactly what I need," Albert said and stood up as well.
"Well, I know a better remedy for you, but we gotta have a few more dates before I give that to you," Rayne said and took his outstretched hand. They walked out of the cafeteria laughing.
