章 8: 8.Letter

Mia and I quickly left my parents' house and started driving back towards our city. I was crying the entire ride home because of my dad's outburst over my relationship with Mia. I couldn't believe that my own father would be so cruel and dismissive of my feelings.

It was heartbreaking, and I didn't know what to do or how to move forward from this. Mia drove us to my apartment, and we talked for hours about what had happened. Through my tears, I told Mia that I didn't know how to face my dad again or how to make him understand. But Mia was there for me, holding my hand and comforting me.

"Oh my god, I can't believe he said that!" Sarah exclaimed, tears streaming down her face.

"I know, it's okay," Mia said, reaching over to hold Sarah's hand. "It's going to be okay."

Sarah sniffled and wiped her eyes. "I just don't know what to do. He's my dad, and he's supposed to love and support me no matter what."

"I know, but sometimes people don't react the way we want them to," Mia said. "Perhaps one day he will realize that he made a mistake."

Sarah smiled weakly. "Yeah, maybe."

"I will spend the night with you," Mia said, squeezing Sarah's hand. "I'lll keep you company."

Sarah squeezed Mia's hand back. "No it's fine I think I just want some alone time tonight."

Mia watched as Sarah got out of the car and walked towards her apartment building. She waited until Sarah had disappeared inside before driving away. As she drove home, Mia couldn't help but think about what had happened with Sarah's dad.

She knew how much Sarah loved her dad, but she also knew that their relationship had been strained ever since she changed her career path. Mia wished she could make things better for Sarah, but she knew that it was something that Sarah would have to work out on her own.

Sarah enters her dimly lit apartment, the only reason the room is at least dimly lit is because of the moon's light shining in through an open window. She heads over to the light switch, but none of the lights turn on. She makes her way to the breaker, which is located in a cramped closet near the front door.

The closet is cluttered with coats, shoes, and other miscellaneous items. As she fiddles with the breaker, a faint creaking sound emanates from her bedroom, which is located at the end of a long, narrow hallway. The hairs on the back of her neck stand up, and her heart starts racing as she feels a sense of unease. She pulls out her phone to call for help, but the battery is completely drained. She wonders what could have caused her phone to die so suddenly.

"What the hell is going on? Is there someone in here?" Sarah frantically rummages through the kitchen drawers, searching for a flashlight. Her hands are shaking, and her voice is trembling with fear. Once she finds one, she heads towards her bedroom to investigate the sound. As she starts pushing her bedroom door open, she hears her bedroom window squeak open.

Her heart pounding, she enters the room. The window is wide open, and her curtains sway ominously in the wind. She lets out a nervous laugh, "Well, that's just great. My apartment's haunted by a ghost who can't close a window."

Sarah nervously approaches her neighbor's door, her heart racing with anxiety. She knocks on the door and asks if she can use their phone. "I'm Sarah. I live next door. I need to call my friend Alex. My breaker is broken, and I don't know what to do," she says, her voice shaking with worry. Her neighbor, Mrs. Jenkins, nods sympathetically and hands her the phone.

Sarah dials Alex's number, her hands trembling with fear. "Hey, Alex. It's Sarah. My breaker is busted, and I need your help. Can you come over?" she says, trying to sound calm and collected.

As she waits for Alex to arrive, Sarah paces back and forth on the steps in front of her apartment, her mind racing with worry. "What if it's not just the breaker? What if it's something more serious?" she mutters to herself.

Finally, Alex arrives, and Sarah lets out a sigh of relief. "Thank God you're here. I was starting to think I was going to be stuck in the dark forever," she says, trying to lighten the mood.

As Alex fixes her breaker, Sarah notices a note on her bed with a red stamp. Her hands start shaking, and she quickly hides the letter under her pillow. "What's that?" Alex asks, noticing her sudden change in demeanor. "Oh, nothing. Just a note from my landlord. It's probably nothing," Sarah says, trying to sound nonchalant.

As the lights come on, Sarah thanks Alex for his help and tells him she needs some alone time. "Thanks for coming over. I owe you one," she says, trying to sound casual. Alex nods and leaves, and Sarah is left alone with her thoughts, wondering what the note could possibly mean. "What if it's a warning? What if someone's after me?" she mutters to herself, her mind racing with fear.

Sarah changes into her nightgown and sits in bed, her heart racing with anxiety. She pulls the note out from underneath her pillow and slowly opens it.

To her surprise, the paper is completely blank. "What the heck?" she mutters to herself, feeling a mix of confusion and relief. She starts laughing, questioning her sanity for being so paranoid.

Suddenly, she begins to cry, her tears hitting the note. As she sobs, letters start to appear on the paper, activated by her tears. Sarah is stunned, her heart racing with fear. "What is this?" she whispers to herself, her mind racing with questions. She reads the note, her eyes widening with shock.
