章 3: Chapter 3 - Forest
Grimrock Mine Prison
A silver-haired, bearded man in his middle age looked outside through the window with menacing eyes. He took a deep breath and turned his head to give a threatening look to the two guards.
"Incompetents, how did you not know about this plan?"
After the man's words, the two guards looked at each other and lowered their heads in embarrassment.
The silver-haired man shook his head and began to ponder.
"The explosion was not natural. A wizard must have helped the prisoners from the outside."
"Why would a wizard bother to assist worthless and insignificant prisoners in their escape?"
The silver-haired man put his hand to his chin and started to think deeply. After a few minutes, he looked at the older guard and spoke.
"Guardian Eldis, bring me the list and information about the prisoners. I also want to know about the most important and valuable prisoner."
The elderly guard named Eldis nodded and replied, "As you command, Chief Guardian Lekas."
After Eldis finished speaking, he left the room. Lekas, on the other hand, looked at the wine-filled red glass, sighed, and took a sip.
"I hope I won't receive a severe punishment."
Lekas whispered, and then his calm expression turned malevolent and filled with hatred as he looked at the young guard. He got up and walked towards the guard, raising his hand to deliver a powerful slap.
"Slap !"
The young guardian was shaken away by the slap but quickly faced Lekas, knowing he was guilty.
"And what about you?"
"What does it mean to fall asleep on your chair during your watch within the first two months of your duty?"
"If you hadn't slept, maybe you could have reported it, and we could have prevented this rebellion."
The young guard remained silent. The flush on his cheeks and the blood dripping from his lips
Lekas closed his eyes slightly and massaged his temples before giving his order.
"Go to your room and wait for new instructions; you will receive a severe punishment. Because of you, fifteen guards were killed, and more than thirty working prisoners had to be killed, and who knows how many of them managed to escape?"
After Lekas' words, the young guard, whose face was red and blood was dripping from his mouth, left the room and began to walk quickly.
Alone in his room, Lekas looked out of the window again and took another sip of wine before whispering, "A wizard is aiding simple prisoners in their escape. Having a wizard involved might prevent me from getting punished," he thought, and then he sat back in his chair.
After a two-hour search, Marsil managed to find a stream. He kneeled down to clean himself and then used another spot to drink a mouthful of water.
"I was really thirsty."
After finishing drinking, he wiped his mouth with his hand and examined the water with his eyes.
"Catching fish shouldn't be too difficult."
In the past, Marsil was considered something of a wanderer. Constantly researching magical things gave him knowledge and practical experience in many areas. Catching fish and satisfying his hunger in the forest wasn't too difficult for him.
Marsil gathered the branches and stone fragments he could use around him. He also collected dry grass, realizing that he would need it to start a fire.
"This should be enough for now."
Marsil sharpened a stone and attached it to the tip of a short tree branch using the collected grass. In a short time, he made a simple spear.
"Now all I need to do is be patient and wait."
