I would like to say that the female in front of me did something, had some sort of reaction to my words, but with the face-covering she was wearing, I had absolutely no idea. But I refused to squirm.
"You seem to know what we want," said the Hive queen. I tried to study what her command bridge looked like, or even to see anything other than her on the screen, but everything was blurry. Only the figure in the white dress was clear.
Her voice, though, more than her looks, was starting to get to me. Every time she opened her mouth, I could only hear the buzzing of hundreds of bees… or mosquitos. It was honestly making me want to break out the Raid or something.
"I think everyone wants a home," I replied coldly with a shrug of my shoulders. Once again, fake it till you make it. "And I think yours was ripped away from you."
"We are managing just fine," came the translated words.
Woo-hoo! Made it!
Mind you, I almost forgot to get the kids on the bus, but not everyone functions well in the morning.
But I got the chapter done with two hours to go!
It's funny. I have outlined this meeting between Mei Xing and the Hive more than a few times, and yet, when it actually came to writing it, it still came out completely differently from how I thought it would go.
Oh well.
Now to get some hot chocolate and hope that the snow stops. I don't want to shovel again!
