I turned on my personal computer to check some files before proceeding to the paper work.
My eyes are kind of irritated with the radiation from the computer. That's why I pulled out my anti-radiation glasses from the cabinet.
After making sure I didn't have to do anything with the computer, I immediately turned it off so that my eyes wouldn't hurt too much. I didn't take my glasses off, though. I began to review the contents of the reports.
Everything was fine, and I also easily finished and signed some.
I soaked for a few more hours, reading the rest, before I felt hungry. There was a break earlier, but I told my secretary not to knock on my door to go out because I wanted to finish it all before eating.
I put down the ballpen I was holding.
"Hmm. My stomach is yelling." I said, while caressing my tummy.
I only have two folders. I hadn't finished reviewing yet, so I took my bag first, putting a few chocolate bars in it so I'd have something to eat if I got hungry.
I put the papers aside first so they wouldn't get dirty.
I'm enjoying my chocolate bar when someone knocks on my door.
"Come in."
One of my teammates came in with a folder in his hand.
"Good morning, Miss Aya. I'll just pass it on. I'm sorry. I must have disturbed you. He hesitated.
I smiled. "No, it's okay. You can put it down here. "
I gestured to point out where he would put the folder.
"All right. I'll get going. "
"Alright. Thank you. "
He waved at me before finally going out and closing the door, which I returned with a smile.
I finished what I ate before continuing.
I was in the last folder when I felt weird. It was as if someone was watching me.
I turned to the left, where the coffee table and sofa were placed. I let out a heavy sigh before turning my gaze to the right.
Nothing.
Nothing.
There is nothing or anyone.
I tightly closed my eyes, calming myself.
I just quickly signed the rest of the paper and stacked it in the previous folders.
I put my pen back in its case. I look at my wrist watch; it's already eleven thirty.
But I'm not yet hungry.
I massaged my nape. A cold wind blew, as if something fast had passed behind me.
Maybe I'm just tired of all the paper work.
Being the curious cat I am, I turned to my back to check if something was in there.
None.
Only a Starry Night painting that hangs perfectly on the wall.
I felt a sudden chill in my nape.
My hair stood on end, so I immediately calmed myself. I was the only one to tap on it and nothing else.
I could no longer move because of the trembling in my chest.
I feel like someone has been looking at me for a while, and I can't figure out where they are.
I know I'm the only person here.
Unless, of course, someone sneaked into my office before I came and is just hiding somewhere.
