章 10: Chapter 10: Graduation

"So, you really want to graduate? Are you sure? You could still stay in the Academy and enjoy your childhood," asked Daikoku Funeno as he watched the eight-year-old student standing in front of him, applying for early graduation.

"The world out there is deadly, especially for child geniuses. Even in times of peace, enemy shinobi will try to take you out so you won't grow up. So, even though you fulfill the requirements, there really is no need for you to graduate so early," he continued.

The student was Tekku, who had completed the last of the electives he needed. He had managed to pass Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Taijutsu, and Fuinjutsu. Additionally, he had also checked out the others but hadn't attempted the exams for them as they weren't required. Now, he was applying for an early graduation exam.

"I am sure, sensei. I am really grateful for your concern, but staying in the Academy would just hamper my growth. There is simply nothing new for me to learn. What I need now is experience and more advanced materials to learn. So, I would really like to apply for the graduation exam and join the older students this year. You probably have heard a bit about what I went through. I am simply different from the others," explained Tekku honestly.

With a sigh, his teacher could only nod. "Well, it's not like there aren't others like you. To be honest, you don't seem to be less talented than Itachi Uchiha, the genius of the Uchiha Clan. If you were from a clan and received early training, you would have graduated last year at seven, just like he did. Even Neji, who is a genius in his own right, can't keep up with super geniuses like Itachi and you."

He had beaten Neji the first time earlier this school year by surprising him with his Chakra Strings during their fight. After he began practicing more advanced Taijutsu techniques and working on his own style, the fights became easier as his moveset became more unpredictable for the Hyuga. At first, they were evenly matched, but as time passed, Neji struggled to keep up since his Gentle Fist style remained the same.

"Yes, it was strong, but at some point, I became so familiar with the style that I could predict all the moves, while my own style varied more and more. This inflexibility is the greatest weakness of the Hyuga Clan, something that I also told Neji. Whether he would listen is another question," Tekku remarked.

"Thank you, sensei. I have heard of Itachi Uchiha, and to be compared to him is a real honor," nodded Tekku proudly.

"Okay, I will allow you to participate in the exam this year," agreed his teacher, as he had no good reason to disagree. "Be at classroom 6-A during the first lesson next Monday."

"Yes, sensei. You won't regret it."

Sealing the last part of his equipment that he had just finished on his workbench into a storage scroll that he created himself, Tekku completed the Fuinjutsu Course with flying colors. The course was considered so difficult that being able to draw one seal properly was enough to complete it. That was something Tekku managed very fast. The hardest part was drawing it cleanly; the rest was easy to understand.

Fuinjutsu had quite a few similarities with programming from his past lives. In both of his lives, he learned how to program and had quite the foundation in the topic, allowing him to grasp the concept quickly. Even though the principle was similar, the application in Fuinjutsu was far more creative and flexible, with different syntaxes and languages being compatible with each other. However, if you made an error, you wouldn't just get a warning message. The whole seal could explode, or nothing would happen at all.

But even though he managed to create his first functioning seal very early, he didn't complete the course directly. He stayed until he finished all three books in the library, mastering their knowledge while asking the responsible teacher as many questions as possible. The teacher was Iruka, the most proficient teacher of the academy in the art. Tekku remembered that Iruka used some barrier techniques to prevent Naruto from going to the battlefield after he unlocked the first Kyuubi Chakra Mode during the Fourth Great Ninja War. Barrier techniques were a branch of Fuinjutsu, and being quite proficient in the art made Iruka one of the more advanced users of Fuinjutsu in the village.

He put his different scrolls with the equipment he built into his bag and onto a scroll holder fixed on his back. Putting his new shiny Konoha Headband onto his forehead, he was ready for his first day as a genin and his graduation.

Passing the exams in the Academy was no problem for Tekku. The written exam, testing for six years of Academy education, was absolutely a piece of cake for him with his superior intellect. His grades had been perfect from the day he started school until his graduation. He quickly caught up with the kids from ninja clans, who were trained before the Academy, and surpassed them, even surpassing geniuses from those clans. So, even in the classes related to the shinobi arts, he had exceptional grades from the start and soon achieved perfection after enough training.

The shinobi graduation exam consisted of the three Academy jutsu. Naturally, he passed such an easy exam, as he made sure to learn them without trouble, though he didn't know how to perform them seamlessly yet. But he was working on it.

"Although the Great War is over, we cannot yet say that the world is now totally at peace. Even now, there are those who struggle through difficult days because of the sad incident of two years past. So how do we break this down? As young ninja, this isn't someone else's problem. Today, we take our first step on the path of the ninja. In this chaotic world, it is most certainly not a peaceful path. But despite this, we vow it here. Ninja are precisely those who dare to advance down a difficult path. Ninja are those who push forward and endure. Using everything we have learned at the academy, we will fulfill our duties as ninja of Konoha," Tekku read the scroll in a loud and clear voice before slowly rolling it back up. Then, he turned his gaze out over the sea of graduates and current students, guardians, and teachers below him.

"Valedictorian, Tekku."

With his exceptional grades, he became the valedictorian of this batch of students. Some of them stared at him with envy, as an eight-year-old had better grades than a whole year of twelve-year-olds. Although there had been some exceptional graduates during the urgent days of the Great War, such as Hatake Kakashi, the only one comparable to Tekku was Itachi Uchiha, who had graduated even younger. Itachi was the youngest post-war graduate and valedictorian, though many argued that it was only because he was from the Uchiha Clan.

And thus, the curtain fell on his school days. There had apparently been all kinds of quarreling among the teachers about Tekku reading the formal reply as the valedictorian. But with Itachi having done the same, even though he was from the Uchiha Clan, a clan many had prejudices against, they thought he might be too young or immature. In the end, they couldn't argue against his grades and talent, having no other choice but to allow him to be the valedictorian.
