As they got to the door, they saw a tall figure emerge from the car parked across the road. 

Lauren's eyes narrowed as she instantly recognized the person. "George? What are you doing here so late?" 

"So because your boyfriend is back from the dead, you don't need me anymore?" George asked casually. 

"I was never dead, you…" Steffan started.

"Steffan, please," Lauren interrupted quickly. "Don't take him seriously. He's just being dramatic."

"Dramatic huh?" George smirked as he walked up to stand directly between them.

Steffan's expression darkened. "And what do you think you're doing?" Steffan shot out. Why was he always bent on becoming a stumbling block in their relationship? Can't he understand that Lauren cannot love him?

"What does it look like I'm doing? Making sure you don't take undue advantage of her vulnerability, of course," George replied coolly. "After all, you've been out of touch with real humans for so long."
