章 32: Sports Festival Part 5: The Resolution to Win.
[Third person POV]
Midoriya and Shinso were in the stage face to face. The combat begins and Shinso taunts Midoriya.
"So, the all-powerful class 1-A could only reach to this huh?" Shinso taunted.
"It must be humiliating, having such reputation but being so mediocre in the end. Of course, this is to be expected from a class with Kobayashi Kaito as its leader."
Midoriya rushes at Shinso but answers to his words.
"Don't you dare to disrespect them…" Midoriya falls under Shinso's mind control.
"Heh, you've lost. Step outside of the arena." Shinso ordered Midoriya.
Midoriya turns around and walks towards the edge.
'Move! You can't lose like this! Move!' Midoriya told himself.
Suddenly, before the last step towards defeat, Midoriya felt chills throughout his body, 8 different figures were looking at him from his mindscape and OFA activated in Midoriya's fingers.
*BOOM*
A sudden burst of power came out from Midoriya's fingers and woke him up. Midoriya was panting from the stress, he almost lost his first battle without doing anything.
'I almost lost, that was close, who were those in my vision? No! first, I have to defeat Shinso.'
"Hey! What did you do? You shouldn't be able to move!" Shinso yelled.
Midoriya almost answers but covers his mouth and then attacks Shinso, Shinso tried to taunt Midoriya again but he failed.
Midoriya punched Shinso's face and followed with a kick, Before the sports festival, Kaito instructed Midoriya to copy different types of martial arts and apply them to his combat set.
One after another the barrage continued until Midoriya pushed Shinso out of the ring.
"Shinso is out of bounds! Midoriya wins!" Midnight.
"Amazing! The battle that should've been decided the moment the brainwashing took effect, had such a turn of events!" Present-Mic.
"Shinso-san, what you said is true, I was blessed with this quirk, however…" Midoriya remembers everything he has done till that day.
"I have also seen the effort of everyone, and I will keep improving, to become the greatest hero."
Shinso leaves the stage but everyone praises him, making him believe that he can become his type of hero.
Iida's and Mei's combat was the same, the only difference is that Kaito passed the whole combat laughing his ass off.
The next battle was Fumikage Tokoyami vs Ibara Shiozaki.
"This next combat is between two range fighters!" Present-Mic.
"On one side: the manifestation of darkness, the king of the shadows, the youngster who is a monster in his own right! Fumikage Tokoyami!"
"On the other side: a rose as gentle as the wind, but with thorns that will make you bleed! Ibara Shiozaki!"
"Begin!" Midnight.
Tokoyami sent Dark Shadow to attack Ibara, she defends with her vines and makes a capsule. Dark Shadow keeps attacking the capsule.
Suddenly two vines grab unto Tokoyami and throw him out of the stage.
'It's just as Kobayashi-san taught.'
One week before the festival Kaito made a group call to give some tips to whoever wanted to listen, Tokoyami asked what to do in a long-range battle.
Kaito answered that best tactic is to never lose sight of your opponent, and in case of that happening never lose focus on the environment, otherwise your opponent could use it to its advantage.
Tokoyami made Dark Shadow to grab the floor of the arena and he retracted to Dark Shadow just as he normally puts Dark Shadow inside of him.
Tokoyami went back to the stage and was safe, he then proceeds to use Dark Shadow as a hoodie and picked up the capsule in which Ibara was hiding.
Ibara tries to restrain Tokoyami but he takes advantage of the fact that Ibara's capsules blocks some of the sun and frees himself from the restraints, throwing Ibara out from the stage in the process.
"Ibara is out of bounds! Tokoyami wins!" Midnight.
"Another fast battle folks, these freshmen are really something huh?!"
"The next combat of this round will be Uraraka Ochaco vs Katsuki Bakugo! Don't miss it out."
"The battle this time will be very aggressive, don't you think Kobayashi?" Sero.
"Indeed, Bakugo would never hold back against an opponent, regardless of the circumstances."
"Poor Uraraka-chan." Tsuyu.
"Don't say that. The moment she knew that she would be fighting Bakugo, she HAD to be mentally prepared for this, any sense of pity would be an insult to Uraraka's determination." Kaito.
"Still, I worry about her well-being." Tsuyu.
"Don't worry, at best she will have small burns and cuts." Kaito.
"And at worst?" asked Momo.
"None, Bakugo is many things: brutish, aggressive, impertinent, ill-mannered, annoying and vulgar. However, he knows where is the line he should never cross." Kaito said with a serious tone.
(A few minutes later)
"The seventh in the first round of matches!" Present-Mic.
"He was kind of a hot shit in middle school. And just look at that determined face! From the hero course class 1-A, Katsuki Bakugo."
"Versus, (the one I'm personally rooting for), also from class 1-A, Ochaco Uraraka!"
"Begin!" Midnight.
As soon as those words leaved Midnight's mouth, Uraraka dashed forward at Bakugo, she knew that he always attacks first using his right.
Bakugo repels Uraraka with a swift and powerful explosion, sending her flying. Uraraka recovers and hide herself between the smoke cloud, a figure moves towards Bakugo and he attacks it with an explosion, only to reveal the top of the sports uniform.
Uraraka appears from behind Bakugo and tries to touch him, unfortunately for her, Bakugo reacted on time and blasted her away.
One after another the explosions happened, Uraraka refused to give up and Bakugo refused to hold back, the crowd was a little pissed at Bakugo's un-hero like behavior.
"Hey, shouldn't one of the teachers step in?"
"Yeah, this is too rough."
"This is shameful. Listen, kid, you really wanna be a hero? Then stop acting like a bully."
"If you're so good, just send her out of bounds."
"Stop toying with the girl and end this match!"
"Yeah, you heard the guy!"
The audience complains and starts booing at Bakugo.
"The crowd is now booing Bakugo! And honestly, I kinda agree with what they're sayin—"
Aizawa elbows Present-Mic in the face.
"Hey, whoa-- What the crap!?"
"Where is the man who started this uproar?" Asked Aizawa.
"Are you a pro? Huh? Because if you're being serious, you can go home and hang up your cape. I'd suggest looking into another career."
The crowd is at shock and don't understand the reason behind Aizawa's statement. Suddenly Kaito begins to laugh and cheers both of his classmates.
"Go Bakugo! Blast her away!"
"You can do it Uraraka! Defeat that salty buffoon!"
"Hey! Kid! Don't you know that your classmate is beating brutally the other one?" said a person from the audience.
"Who cares! The moment they entered the stage it was either victory or defeat, and both of them want to win. So, be a good spectator and shut up and let the rest enjoy the battle." Kaito says clearly having a lack of fucks.
"Just as the student remarked, Bakugo's fierceness is an acknowledgement of his opponent's strength. He knows she deserves to have made it this far, so he's making sure he does whatever it takes to keep her at bay and come out on top." Aizawa concludes.
"We're not finished. She's still standing. She's not dead yet!" Bakugo.
"I think it's about time." Uraraka puts his hands in position and keeps talking.
"Thank you, Bakugo…for keeping your…eyes focused on me!"
"What?" Bakugo looks up and sees allot of debris from the battlefield.
"I don't blame Bakugo for not noticing, but it's embarrassing for a pro to boo and not realize what's going on from the stands. She kept low to the ground as she moved, which meant Bakugo's blasts tore up the floor of the ring, creating weapon for her." Monoma monologued.
"And then she kept him focused on her by attacking relentlessly, without rest. Rendering him oblivious. If this connects, it'll give Uraraka-chan the edge for a possible comeback."
"You are wrong Monoma." Kaito said calmly.
"What do you mean 1-A?"
"Uraraka's body is barely holding itself together, that many debris are a weight that she can no longer withstand, the worst part being the damaged she received earlier, in other words, either she defeats him now or loses."
'With this much debris, whether he's evading or counterattacking, there will definitely be an opening! In that moment, I'll finally get close to him!' Uraraka thought.
'This is it! My chance! I'll win and be just like Deku!' Uraraka dashes towards Bakugo and he gets in a blasting position.
*BOOM*
With a huge explosion Bakugo destroys all the debris and sends Uraraka back.
"I figured you'd have some sorta stupid plan to beat me. You are friends with that damn nerd, after all." Bakugo says as he grabs his left hand tightly.
'It took him one shot.' Uraraka thought in disbelieve.
"Bakugo bangs out a huge demonstration of power! He blasted apart Uraraka's finishing move and remains untouched!" Present-Mic.
Uraraka faints due to fatigue and Midnight declares Bakugo as the winner.
"Just as expected, welp, Mina beat the crap out of Monoma please." Kaito requested Mina, she gave him a thumbs up and Kaito went his way.
"Now! The final battle of the 1st round will be…!" Present-Mic.
"A hyped girl that always shows a smile with her peculiar skin color, from class 1-A Mina Ashido from!"
"VS! he is a kid with allot of rivalry against class 1-A, from class 1-B Neito Monoma!"
"BEHOLD 1-A! I'll begin your downfall with your weakest participant!" Monoma gloated.
"Sometimes I think that he wasn't hugged enough as a kid." Kaito stated.
The rest of the class, including 1-B, nods in agreement.
'I thought that my plan was mean and that he didn't deserve it, but now, I'll go with the plan that Kaito gave me.' Mina thought with a disgust face.
"Begin!" Midnight.
Monoma remains still and Mina dashes to attack him, mina concentrates her acid into her palms and when she is close to Monoma, she releases it.
Monoma activates Steel to withstand the damage, however all the clothes melt leaving him almost naked. Kaito burst into laughter and Monoma is so ashamed of what happened that he dashes to the exit before his clothes completely melt.
"W-well, the winner is Mina Ashido."
To say that it was anticlimactic is an understatement but he deserved it anyway. After a few minutes, the 2nd round matches where decided:
Midoriya Izuku vs Todoroki Shoto.
'It's time, Midoriya.'
'I'll do my best!'
Katsuki Bakugo vs Eijiro Kirishima.
"At least he'll be worth to blast away."
"I'm getting psyched by this."
Fumikage Tokoyami vs Mina Ashido.
"Aww! Come on!"
"Victory edges each time closer."
Tenya Iida vs Kobayashi Kaito.
"I'll have to go all out from the beginning."
"Vice-rep huh? I guess I'll give him my full kick-course."
