章 11: 11. Chance Encounter
CHAPTER XI: CHANCE ENCOUNTER
So here's the thing. I want to go home to earth. I miss earth so much. I want to watch tv and play videogames. I cannot overstate how much I miss modern technology.
Right now I'm walking back towards the city. My first mission was successful or at least I hope it was. There wasn't really any confirmation or anything.
So anyway I fainted and was taken to the village where I was unconscious for a few days. When I woke up I was met with the utmost hospitality and rewarded 10 silvers for a quest well done.
I lost most of my staff during the fight including my very expensive sword. So here I am, walking home alone amidst a scary ancient forest.
My body feels so weak and fatigued that I can barely stand let alone walk but I willed myself anyway. I ate a pretty big breakfast but I'm still so hungry that I could eat a whole horse, literary.
Good news is I can at least use Ki blasts now. Like 10% of the time. I can also sense living creatures now which I think will become quite useful.
So I'm on my way home or should I say my new home. I'm still awaiting my second mission but so far nothing has come. Maybe I fought the wrong Goblin Chief but I think that's highly unlikely. It's all just speculation at this point.
ROOOOOOAAAAAARRRRR!!!!
A devastating roar if I've ever heard one. A few ways down the road. I slowly start jogging.
Damn! Not this shit again! It's like a lion but the size of a house. It's fur is black like oil. Even its awesome looking mane. Blood red vicious eyes that stare right through the dozen or so soldiers in plate armour surrounding it. They look familiar.
I can see a fancy looking carriage by the side of the road. A pair of women lying besides it. One is passed out while wearing a long one piece dress. Next to her, I think that's the innkeeper's daughter.
She's dressed in the same plate armour as the other soldiers. Protecting that noble looking chick by her side. As I thought she must be some kind of knight.
I've seen her around the inn but she barely speaks to me unless required. Suddenly the lion chews one of the soldiers.
Hmmmm... something doesn't make sense. That's 12... 13... 14.....? I can still sense more people. Oh shit! It's an ambush. In total there are about 18... no 20... 30 people hiding in the forest.
What's my next phase of action? I'm no fucking hero! Not really my style. Okay think, I need to think!
Noble looking lady. A squad of knights. An ambush! Meaning some kind of assassination or kidnapping. I really don't wanna be involved in politics.
Then again, I would be stupid to pass on this opportunity. If I can save her, she will owe me a favour. A favour from a powerful looking noble might be useful in the future. Okay I've made up my mind.
The soldiers are down to half a dozen. There's no time to waste. I run over to them. They quickly notice me approaching.
"Who are You!?" One of them ask.
Just as I approach, the ambushers show up in all black. I ignore them for now and grab a sword from one of the dead knights. The girl immediately recognises me.
"What are you doing here!?" She demands.
The guards continue fighting the lion. Trying to kill it but it's still too fast and strong.
"Watch this carefully!" I tell her.
Within a second I release as much Ki as I could and charge for the Lion. In one swift motion I jump for its head and cut through its thick mane.
It's blood comes shooting out of its neck like a sprinkler. Everyone looks at me in absolute wonder. My Ki raging like an inferno. Surrounding me in a dark red black aura. I wonder how dope I look right now.
