章 35: Teamwork
Back on the side of the gang Butch that was about to face off against the unknown group, Butch was talking with Tiffany through their usual method. "Do not help us so soon. We should not need you but it would be wise for you to do something else."
His meaning was that while they would not require anything that would directly assist them, it would not hurt if she continued to keep him updated on some changes happening in the surroundings.
What she observed was most important to him and a tiny bit of knowledge could be what could help turn the battle in his favor. "Hold them off!"
He intended to prolong the battle in a way that they best protected themselves so they started to use their environment to their advantage.
If there was something to hide behind to gain cover or a better vantage point then they would take it right away.
While they did wish to get out of there as quickly as possible, they could not make any reckless moves that would put his allies at risk for the sake of a couple getting out of there alive.
Butch was the type of leader that valued his allies and would not make unnecessary sacrifices unless the situation called for it.
Since Tiffany was not controlling one thing or several to participate in the battle, she was able to jump from one place to another more freely so that she could spy on what was taking place.
The movements of the enemy were within her view most of the time which she reported back to Butch.
The both of them working together like that proved to be very efficient as Butch coordinated with his allies to set an ambush on the enemies that were closing in on them.
Everything was looking good as Butch pounced out swinging his paw toward the throat of the unknown person.
They were all wearing masks and black robes which made it difficult to figure out where they were affiliated with.
Butch could not look into who was underneath the mask since he had to keep moving.
He jumped back from where he came after revealing himself and a strong precise shot of water pierced toward where he stood previously.
His allies were doing the same as they relied on ambushes and made use of their environment.
They moved according to the orders of Butch who was being fed information by Tiffany.
It allowed them to avoid detection from larger groups and to move toward points where it would be more advantageous to them.
All of the credit could not be given completely to Tiffany since Butch had played a vital role too.
With him possessing canine physiology, allowed him to possess various innate abilities and enhancements that put him above several Quirk users that had a body like most other humans.
He could see better in the dark and that was just a small part of what he could do.
He could pick up on the taste of various things in his surroundings as well as the sounds and smells allowing him to track the movements of those nearby.
Working together with Tiffany allowed him to maximize his potential as he hunted down his enemies before they could get the opportunity to fight back.
Everything seemed to be proceeding smoothly as he and his allies were reducing the enemies' forces until Tiffany spoke again. "Something is wrong."
Butch knit his brows speaking in a low voice again. "What is it?"
Tiffany sounded a little worried. "The other gang got taken out. Some of their allies turned on their oss when their back was turned. I do not want to suspect anyone but... watch your back."
Tiffany witnessed how the other gang was beginning to create a gap to break through but just as everything was looking to be good for them, a sudden betrayal came all too sudden.
It was not just one among their allies that turned on them.
It happened so suddenly and was well coordinated like it had been something that had been planned for quite some time.
Tiffany did not know much about the gang of Butch in greater detail so she could not exactly point out who could be a traitor among them.
All that she could do was try to keep Butch informed about the situation he faced while trying to provide support if he needed it.
Butch thought to himself for a moment before asking. "I will try to keep my guard up but can you do something for me?"
Tiffany responded quickly. "Of course."
Butch showed a bloodthirsty smile. "Get your body to the safe room I prepared first. If there are traitors here then there could be others lurking at the base. I do not want you becoming a target at this time."
Tiffany answered him again. "I am already inside so you do not have to worry. Anything else?"
Butch sighed. "Alright... create an opening for me."
Tiffany sounded excited. "I got this bro!"
