章 1065: Never had a chance to begin with

BANG!

Alfred perked up as soon as he heard gunshots. He turned to the door, brows furrowed. He had only arrived at his lodging, barely able to sit down when he heard that noise. 

"What's going on?" he asked himself, picking up his rifle on instinct. "An enemy?"

If it was an enemy, that would be terrible. 

Right now, Dane was vulnerable. He sent most of their men to retrieve the shipments. On their way here, Dane sent the rest to back up the first group. In other words, there were only a few of them to guard him. If their enemies came in full-blown units, then they had no choice but to flee. 

With that thought in mind, Alfred's nose flared as he huffed. 

"A client? Another unit from Interpol? The reapers?" he wondered as he trudged toward the door. "This is bad."
