"I refuse to have this child out of wedlock. If we are going to have this child, then we should consider getting married beforehand."

Devin froze, shock spiraling through him. This request was unexpected, and although he wanted to give her anything, he couldn't agree to a miserable marriage.

"You? Marry? Your focus is on your education, so no. I won't marry you," Devin said firmly. Matilda's heart ached as tears streamed down her face.

"Then don't blame me for what's coming next," she said, her voice filled with tears. She stood up, about to run to the room, when Devin grabbed her arm and asked seriously, 

"What are you talking about? What is coming?" 

He loved her and wanted to marry her more than anything, but now wasn't the right time.

However, he feared that she might try another means of abortion, like the pills Robin had guessed.
