"Did you like the toy?" asked Cassian when Alec sat in the carriage with a musical box and a spring toy in his hands. Alec nodded slightly and looked outside the window.
He fidgeted on his seat more than twice until Cassius took his gaze away. His eyes instantly met with a fuming girl who was glaring at him and mumbling something under her breath.
The girl started harrumphing and bit her lips after he raised his eyebrows and asked, "Is there something wrong?".
His eyes softened. At least she was worried that their argument would hurt the child.
"I will call you in my office as soon as we reach the palace if it would be alright for you?" he lowered his head, and for the first time in his life, he took the initiative to explain himself when the girl looked a bit unsure but nodded her head in the end.
"Alec, shall I teach you how to use them?" asked Mary after taking a deep breath. Though she knew why Cassian did that, she could not bring herself to accept it.
