"Look, Damien," Skai began in a firm tone, firm but not unkind, "I know I didn't respond to your calls or messages, and perhaps an apology is due but it was a hectic evening, and I had a lot on my mind."

Damien raised an eyebrow, his expression unreadable. "Hectic evening, huh? Care to elaborate?"

Skai hesitated for a moment before deciding to be honest. "I discussed with Jared. It was…"

Raphael's features hardened slightly, his eyes searching through hers. "Jared? Jared Drake from the party?"

Skai nodded slowly. She knew that frown.

Still, she decided to taunt him with it. "Yes, that's him. We had a long conversation, and it made me question a lot of things."

"Like what?" Raphael prompted, his curiosity piqued, or more like, his jealousy aroused.

"It's personal." A dark glint flashed across Raphael's eyes.
