His scales were the color of death. The spikes atop his back, they were sharp enough to kill. His eyes, they held no life. He looked like what he was, a monster.
Yet, not only did he speak like a human, but he was avoiding conflict? This seemed unreal, at least to Sarah Foster. A monster was, by definition, a bloodthirsty, War-loving creature. They couldn't be anything else. It was a contradiction of their entire being.
"What do you mean?" Sarah asked, her green eyes fixed on the dragon.
"My master had commanded me to find you and your companions. He instructed me to keep you all safe."
"Who is your master?"
"You may know him differently, but I know him as the Moon Sovereign. He is to you, Alden Hall."

Something terrible would happen. That, is what one would think.
That is one would think if they stood under the dull sky, atop a dead earth, in a dead world.
However...
It's what one would know, if their soul were present in the heart-crushing atmosphere, if their lungs breathed in the thick air, if they felt the terror of that knight.
Correction.
It's what most would know.
Because there are a few, a rare type, an unseen existence. They are those whose hearts beat unpeturbed, they are ones whose lungs breathed with ease. They are the ones, who felt no such terror.
Alden was one such man.
His eyes stayed high and brave, never leaving the man clad in armor.
Man?
Was he a man?
Alden didn't know. Yet he also didn't think so.
"first of all, I'm not going to die in the first place." Alden chuckled, seemingly relaxed."Second of all, only the weak..."
Alden let out a cunning smile.
"have no honor."
Alden tried to see of what monster type the creature before him was, he was surprised by what he saw.
"Death knight?" that one was new.
"You are mistaken. Any man can have honor, and it is not reliant on strength. I have met strong men who were dishonorable..." As he spoke, the knight's black armor glinted. He wore a white cape, that flowed down his back like a waterfall. A similarly colored plume sat upon the helmet, and it was like a flag of terror.
A red glow emerged from between the helmets gaps, and quite dramatically, there was a silver smoke dancing all around the warrior.
"And I have met weak men who are honoroble.
"I have been weak, so I know." Aldens brows furrowed. "Honor is a cake from which, the weak are not given a slice. Only the most powerful, can be given honor."
The knight did not reply for a good few seconds, before he asked a strange question.
"So you consider yourself strong?"
Alden was taken aback by the sudden question. He quickly composed himself, before answering. His voice strong, and full of confidence.
"Yes."
"Then, I will make you understand that even the strong..."
Chhk.
He drew his sword, before pointing it right at Alden's chest.
"Can have no honor."

"Alden...what are you talking about... Is he a summoner? Are you his summon?"
"if you wish to see it that way, than yes."
Sarah Foster seemed unsure of what to do.
"How exactly do you intend helping us?"
"By escorting the weak humans away from here. If not, they will freeze to death."
That was true. Even if the dragon was an imposter, and he killed them, they'd die here of the cold anyways. But...
She still couldn't gamble with the lives of her party. However, if he wasn't lying and she refused his services, than if her party died she'd be responsible.
She was evidently troubled, having to make such a difficult decision.
"Sarah Foster, you can entrust me with the lives of your colleagues. Indecisiveness will only lead to the unnecessary loss of lives."
That was true. She had to decide. Even if he was not legit, what reason would he have to try and trick her? All monsters ever care about is spilling blood. Not any cheap tricks.
" Captain, it's fine. " It was the boy from before. A reassuring smile sat upon his face, and his voice held no sign of hesitation or doubt.
"But..."
"We'll be fine. You know we've no choice but to trust the dragon, right?"
The inescapable reality hit Sarah Foster like a bus, and though outwardly her face remained indifferent, inside she was full of cacaphonic emotions.
She had no choice... She had to relinquish the responsibility of their protection to another, and she did not trust any ability except her own.
But even now... She was powerless...
Sarah Foster let out a sigh, before glancing at the monster.
"They'd better be safe, otherwise..." her voice was chilling, yet the dragon seemed unpeturbed.
"Do not worry. Now, go ahead. In a short distance, you will find the boss."
Sarah Foster nodded, before nervously stealing a glance at her colleagues. Though they returned a reassuring look, she knew that deep down inside, they were afraid. Who wouldn't be?
She spun around, and rose into the sky, before shooting off towards the top of the mountain. Though she was a little blinded by the falling of snow, she soon saw what should be her destination.
A giant, castle with massive doors sat at the very top of the mountain.
When she saw it, she knew. She could feel it.
The boss, he was inside.

A black shadow emerged, as Alden summoned his sword. He readied himself for an attack, and he was soon waiting.
Suddenly, his skin felt cold. The surroundings grew deathly silent. A dusty smell filled the air, though it would soon be overpowered by the smell of blood.
The knight, his body moved. He than disappeared.
Alden raised his swordstaff, and in the next instant, a sword had struck it.
BOOM!
There was a large impact as the knight attacked. Alden pushed his sword away before spinning around, his blade ready to spill blood.
The knight stepped to the side. His sword deflected the attack. Alden felt himself losing balance.
The knight raised his blade, and he swung it. There was a sharp whistle, as his sword cut through air. Alden smelled the trouble.
[GLITCH (lv 3) ACTIVATED]
With a flash, he'd dissapeared. He appeared behind the surprised knight. Alden immediately thrust his weapon, ready to launch a surprise attack.
Victory seemed so imminent, if he landed this attack, surely...
KERPLANG!
His swordstaff was deflected, he was thrown back. Then he realized.
The knight had somehow spun around and deflected his attack.
"Shucks! It's difficult to fight someone with a weapon. I could get cut way too easily..." he needed to boost his defense. And than he remembered.
A blue glow layered his skin, and slowly, red scales began to spread throughout his body. His hair seemed to be soaked in blood, as it slowly turned red, and a fierce red glow formed in his eyes.
Half-dragon transformation.
The scales greatly boosted his defense, and his energy was boosted.
Alden let out a grunt as he further strengthened himself by activating his energy. He felt a warm feeling throughout his body, and he could just close his eyes and embrace the feeling.
"So, you're a dragon?"
"I'm a human." Alden replied, and readied himself to attack. "And you'll be the one dying without honor, considering the fact that you're a prisoner."
His words seemed to hit a nerve, and the knight said very little. He tore through space, and lunged with his sword.
Alden dodged, before swinging his blade. It struck the knights armor, though it failed to penetrate.
Alden dashed to his right, away from the knight who had launched another attack.
A blue energy ball formed, as Alden raised his left hand. The ball left his hand, and darted to his target.
The knight swung his sword, cutting through the gravity energy. The sphere dissipated into the air like smoke, and Alden readied himself for the knights assault.
A downward strike was launched toward him in the next second, and he raised his swordstaff, stopping the attack.
His hands trembled under the weight of the attack and he gritted his teeth.
"Uah!" he pushed forward, and the knight retracted the weapon, before launching another attack. This was a horizontal swing.
"Shucks, I can't..."
BANG!
Alden was sent staggering a few meters away. He raised his swordstaff. A sword hit against his swordstaff.
Alden fell backwards, his back crashing into the ground. He grit his teeth, when he realized his vulnerability.
As quickly as he could, he raised his hand. He could see the opponents sword already swung, ready to slash his head into two.
