Eve awoke with a sore body. No, it was not due to consummating her marriage. It resulted from standing in high heels for over eight hours. Almost immediately, she regretted her choice of shoes for the wedding and subsequent events.
She winced as she moved her legs. She tried to massage them but ended up resorting to magic to alleviate the pain. Magic could numb her body, but it could not cure the underlying cause of her discomfort. She surveyed the dimly lit bedroom. Only one candle was lit, casting insufficient light throughout the room. She knew Max had intentionally kept it this way to avoid disturbing her.
"Awake?"
Eve jolted, sitting up in bed and turning to the man beside her.
