“Plot twist,” Chris mumbled from the other side of the bar, and without anyone telling him to, he pulled out the heavy liquor and started to fill shots.

“Your--- mate?!” Jack echoed in dumbfounded shock, blinking once or twice as he stared at the woman next to his brother. As if he expected it to be a joke or a mirage that would disappear on him at any moment.

And he wasn’t alone on that point…

“Nice to meet you,” the she-wolf spoke, her voice soft and sweet, and held out her hand – first to me and then to Jack. “I’m Luna Alice White.”

“A--- surprise to meet you,” I said, shaking the hand, as Jack seemed to have lost his voice all over again. “I was expecting---” Riven to come alone and proclaim that we held his “mate” hostage or some shit and that he wanted her back? But how did you tell a man you expected him to be a douchebag WITHOUT telling him you expected him to be a douchebag?
