章 2: Chapter 2 Natasha wakes up

As the sun began to rise, Nate opened his eyes and got out of bed. He walked down the hallway, still groggy from sleep.

Suddenly, he heard a loud noise coming from downstairs. Nate carefully held onto the bannister as he made his way downstairs to investigate.

As he entered the living room, he saw someone lying on the sofa. As he got closer, he realised it was his Auntie Nat. But she's supposed to be in heaven and not coming back, Nate thought to himself.

Clint and Laura called for him from downstairs, and he immediately recognised their voices.

"Daddy, mummy!" Nate cried out.

Nate could hear the sound of people running down the stairs towards him.

"Where are you, Nate?" Laura called out to him.

Nate quickly ran into the hallway and collided into Laura. Overwhelmed by emotions, he wrapped his arms around her and

began to cry.

Laura held him tightly and comforted him by saying," It's okay; everything is okay."

"What happened, buddy?" Clint asked when he arrived in the hallway.

"Auntie Nat," Nate managed to say through his tears.

Clint and Laura exchanged a confused look, wondering what he meant.

"What about Auntie Nat?" Laura asked.

Nate pointed towards the living room and said,

"She's in there."

Clint decided to investigate. "I'll check it out. You stay here with Nate." Clint said to Laura,

Laura picked up Nate in her arms and sat with him on the stairs while Clint went into the living room. She was ready to flee with her family if needed.

Clint approached the living room cautiously and quietly, ready to defend his family if necessary. As he entered the room, he saw

someone who resembled Natasha lying on the sofa.

But Clint knew she was dead; that's all he had been able to dream of since she had died. "There was no way she could be alive. It must be someone pretending to be her," he thought to himself. He knew some people could Shapeshift into people they were not.

As he got closer, he saw that the person was sleeping, and nothing could wake them up. Clint was at a loss for what to do next.

He would usually call Tony or Steve for help, but they were both gone now, and Thor was off-planet.

Suddenly, it occurred to him that Bruce might be his and his family's only hope. He quickly left the living room and went back to where Laura was waiting. She looked at him with concern in her eyes.

"What's going on?" Laura asked.

"I don't know," Clint admitted. "But you need to get the kids and all stay together in case of danger. I'm going to call Bruce for help." Clint told her.

Laura agreed and quickly headed up the stairs. "Be careful," she said to Clint before disappearing from view.

Clint rushed into the kitchen and dialled Bruce's number. He waited anxiously for him to answer, hoping he would pick up quickly.

Finally, Bruce answered, and Clint wasted no time in explaining the situation.

"I'm sorry to call you so early, but something strange is happening. I need your help. How quickly can you get here?" Clint asked.

Bruce listened "I'll be there as soon as possible." Bruce replied.

"Thanks. When you arrive, I'll explain everything," Clint responded before ending the call.

Clint walked back to the entrance of the living room. As he arrived, he saw Lila standing on top of the stairs.

"What's going on, Dad?" She asked. Clint hated how scared she sounded.

"I'm not sure yet," Clint replied honestly.

"Nate said Auntie Nat was on the sofa and still alive. But she died, didn't she?" Lila asked.

"Yes, she did," Clint confirmed. "But I don't know what's happening. Don't worry, though, honey. Bruce will be here soon to help me sort it all out. He's a friend of Auntie Nat's and mine. The guy that turns into the Hulk you've met him a couple of times." Clint told her.

"Yeah, I remember But is Auntie Nat really downstairs?" Lila asked.

Clint hesitated for a moment before responding truthfully, "I don't know yet, Lila. But we'll find out soon." He didn't want to lie to her because he knew she was old enough to detect it and might be upset if she found out later that he had lied.

"I don't know if the person down here is really Natasha or not. It could be someone pretending to be her. That's why I need Bruce to help me find out. If it's not her, I might need backup. So for now, I need you to wait with the others until I call you down. If it really is her, then I'll let you know, I promise," Clint explained to Lila.

"Okay," Lila agreed before heading into the room where Laura was waiting.

Clint waited by the living room door, keeping a watchful eye on the person lying on the sofa. He didn't want to take any chances and let his guard down, just in case it was someone who meant harm to his family. It felt like an eternity waiting for Bruce to arrive.

Finally, he heard a knock at the door.

"It's open," Clint called out to Bruce.

"Are you going to tell me what's happening now?" Bruce asked as he entered Clint's house.

"I'll show you. Follow me," Clint replied before leading Bruce into the living room where the person, who may or may not be Natasha, was lying.

"Nate found her not long ago, and she hasn't moved since then. I tried waking her up, but nothing worked," Clint explained.

"I don't even know if it's really her or if it's someone pretending to be her. But either way, they haven't moved," Clint told

Bruce.

"You saw her die, so it can't be her," Bruce reasoned with Clint.

"I know that, but what if it somehow is her? I need your help to find out for sure," Clint said.

"I won't know until she wakes up. I'll stay here and keep an eye on her. Then we can find out if it's really her or not," Bruce told Clint.

"I'm sorry for waking you up so early, but I needed your help. If this isn't Natasha, then I might need backup. With Tony and Steve gone now and Thor is off-world, you were the only one I could think of to call," Clint told Bruce.

"Of course, I'll help you," Bruce replied as he sat down on the floor next to the sofa. He didn't want to risk sitting on any of Clint's chairs and breaking them in his new half-Bruce, half-hulk form.

"Do you think it could be Loki? You know he has the ability to shapeshift" Clint asked.

"No, he died. Remember when the ship was destroyed and Thor and I nearly died?" Bruce reminded him.

"Yeah, I remember that. But wasn't Loki supposed to be dead like twice before that? And he was in my head before; maybe he

Somehow found out where I live," Clint told Bruce.

"Clint, even if Loki were somehow alive and decided to pretend to be Natasha, what would be his plan? He wouldn't just come here and fall asleep on your sofa. If it were him, he would be doing something entirely else," Bruce reasoned with Clint.

"As you once said, who knows what goes on in his mind? It's like a bag of cats; you can smell the crazy from a mile away," Clint recalled, agreeing with Bruce's assessment of Loki.

"When this person wakes up, we can ask them some questions and find out if it's really Natasha or not, and if it's not, we'll deal with it together," Bruce suggested.

Clint nodded in agreement as both he and Bruce sat and waited for the person on the sofa to wake up. They were eager to find out if it really was Natasha or if it was someone pretending to be her. If it was indeed her, they wanted to know how she came back to life after her death. Clint found the silence nearly unbearable as they waited for answers.
