章 159: Sekhmets Move (Part 6)

DIMENSION: ANIME (Part 6)

The Border Between Life and Death

Masika stayed near Sekhmet. Having helped create a god, a goddess, whatever else was happening on the other side, and she had tried. Masika could see that. Her stomach was rounder now, and she could feel Silhouette's presence.

Sekhmet didn't have enough power left to have Silhouette be born to protect each other. If Masika died before Silhouette was born? Only Téa's boy would remain.

"She is coming, I know Bastet will come." Sekhmet was lying right on the outside. Zorc was laughing in the distance. "Soul Sister, what is taking you? Surely she felt the change in sacrifices I created."

"Sekhmet."

Masika saw Bastet head over from the other side.

"Oh you foolish woman. You aren't invincible." Bastet looked toward her sister. "Did you run out of energy?"

"Silhouette will be lost," Sekhmet said to her. "Stop scolding me and help Masika before she dies."

Bastet looked toward Masika. "If Silhouette is born in there of all places, she will be trapped."

"It will let the human live until Zorc backs off," Sekhmet groaned.

"So you are the one who triggered what Thoth wrote?" Bastet questioned her. "You are the reason we have to make the humans recast the millennium items in the first place?"

"Atem started it!"

"He was tricking her."

"I know now! Oh, just help me already."

Bastet looked toward Masika. "Curse you, Sekhmet, I just turned a human into a hybrid monster. Do you know how much energy that took? Are we sure we have to do this because I won't be able to change it afterward."

"I've got her at six months. Just give her three more months, and let it be born."

Oh. Fantastic. Masika already felt drained by her new living area, and the rapid pregnancy. Birth now too? The shadow realm's void was easier to handle.

"No, I will be as slumpy as you," Bastet said looking at Masika. "She will need help during birth too. Where is Taweret? I will check real quick. I'll be back before anyone dies."

Comforting. Masika closed her eyes. When she opened them again, she already heard a cry. She felt someone helping her with . . . "Silhouette."

Human. She did look very human, except for the glowing wdjat on her head. She was further along too, not a regular newborn size. Six months at least.

Taweret waved and then quickly left back out next to Bastet and Sekhmet. "Oh, Zorc is just gathering favors left and right."

"Thank you, thank you," Zorc's voice came around the sanctuary again. "Aw, look at my little demoness."

No. They would not have done that. "She is a human goddess."

"She is both," Zorc cackled.

"It's more human than anything," Taweret said slowly. "That demonic power will be the first to be sacrificed of her power, it will be all gone, and it's very slight. Only . . . math is bad, Bastet?"

"Less than a percent," Bastet said. "We needed Taweret to get in there to help. A god alone cannot enter. We tried to make the percentage as small as possible."

"You wouldn't believe the deals I got," Zorc chuckled. "The secrets, the details, there's no way to keep me out."

"Oh, quiet, Zorc." Sekhmet groaned. "We have enough cries of 'end humanity' right now."

"A god and a demon together to tread where only mankind dwells." Well, it sounded almost silly. "So? If I do somehow escape, and Zorc is anywhere near you little one . . ." Guaranteed, Zorc's new vessel.

Silhouette reached toward her hand. She started to put it in her mouth.

Masika laughed. "Just like a human infant though, you must test everything." She pulled her closer. Now, she was permanently sealed.

"You will now live safely," Sekhmet said to her. "A little bit of demon is fine, humans are usually worse than small demons anyhow. It's more than four and a half percent still mine, and I care no less for it."

"I'll get more there." Zorc's voice. "It's already born and look what I've accomplished."

"Sekhmet. The paying dimension. We must actually speak to them now, especially after all those card changes you just gave them and we just had to make again," Bastet said. "Pick your slumpy rear end up."

"We do need to speak." Sekhmet looked toward Silhouette and Masika. "Do you have a tiny shred of power left, Bastet?"

"Not much," Bastet said.

"Taweret?" Sekhmet asked.

"I infiltrated the border between life and death with Zorc," Taweret said. "I don't have much."

"We do not have all of time right now to speak, too many things will arise on the other side. We must be ready," Sekhmet said. "I have spoken to Masika a lot, and I get along with her better than other humans. I have an idea." She pushed herself up more. "Let's retie the spirits. Yugi's thoughts to Téa, and Atem's thoughts to Masika for now."

"What?" Why would Sekhmet want to do such a thing?

"I will tie my thoughts to her as well. This will ensure we can stay on point, and not, you know. End infinity ourselves when two dimensions combine and see each other at the wrong time," Sekhmet told them.

"It's more energy, but I agree," Bastet said. "The other dimension is getting worse, and seeing what we have just let out will make it no better. We have to watch over the timing, but we can't just keep coming and going."

"Overused. Overdrawn. We need to return home soon," Sekhmet said. "We won't be able to help anyone later if we don't rest and replenish at home. Explain a little about the future and choices, grab Atem, and bring him here to the entrance to speak. Masika can ask through me and answer him. He is . . . a Pharaoh at heart. He will understand what needs to be done and why." She groaned and the sound of muscles cracking hit Masika's ear. "If she wishes him to kneel at her feet before she even speaks to him after all he's caused though, then make him!"

"Yes, of course. We should get extra protection for her too, or poor Silhouette might waste too much. Did Seto Kaiba make another cape to protect on the paying dimension?" Bastet asked. "It will help protect them both better. She will feel better in front of the Pharaoh not being naked as well I'm sure."

Stature. Hm. It seemed less important now what Atem's role had been, considering how little the goddesses even thought of him.

"I don't know, just grab it from the other dimension. We've already put back the millennium puzzle, necklace and ring." Sekhmet said. "Once she is safely away, we can put it back too."

"What about the other Masika?" Bastet asked.

"Oh, don't worry about her. I'll make sure she makes it safely out of here." Zorc's voice. "Just one more favor."

Taweret agreed and all three disappeared from the entrance. Bastet came back with a shiny cape. "This is for you." She tossed it in. "Wear it. Your goddess can't waste all her energy keeping you two alive, she'll have too little for the end."

Masika picked up the cape, and held Silhouette with one hand as she wrapped it around herself. It flipped just right, making it easy to tie. The creator certainly knew a thing about capes.

Masika looked down at Silhouette who- "No, no!" She pulled her away from sucking on a sanctuary rock. "That is nasty. It's for worshipping, not eating." She moved her hair back. "Goddess. Demon. Still the bratty tendencies of a human child." Still, she smiled and cuddled her closer. "Téa will get a kick out of your hair."
