章 30: Chapter 30 "Prayers for Recovery"

The nurse was taken aback when Veer suddenly stepped back and noticed the direction in which he gestured, indicating towards her tattoo. Realizing that she had been caught, the nurse hurriedly attempted to conceal her tattoo. Veer, puzzled by her actions, questioned, "Why are you hiding your tattoo?"

The nurse, feeling a bit flustered, responded, "There's nothing to hide, really. It's just that hospital staff are not allowed to have tattoos, so I was trying to cover it up."

"Oh, I wasn't aware of that. I apologize for surprising you," Veer expressed with understanding.

"It's alright. Just be more cautious next time," the nurse advised Veer.

As the nurse listened to Veer's response, she regained her composure and suggested, "Sir, you should contact the doctor to inquire about the treatment cost for the patient."

"Yes, I will get in touch with the doctor. But where can I find him?" Veer inquired.

"The doctor will be available in his office on the 9th floor. His name is Dr. Gaurav Saxena," the nurse informed Veer.

After listening to the nurse, Veer nodded in understanding. He was well aware that the building they were in had 20 floors, with medical rooms dedicated to regular patients from floors 1 to 12. However, from floors 12 to 20, there were specialized medical rooms for magicians and warriors. The doctors in these rooms possessed magical abilities or utilized internal energy. The magician doctors were skilled in reattaching severed limbs and treating injuries sustained by warriors and magicians from encounters with monsters, tasks that ordinary doctors couldn't handle. On the other hand, the internal energy master doctors used their internal energy to heal internal injuries or perform rapid surgeries on warriors. Their exceptional speed during surgeries made it almost impossible to discern the beginning or end of the treatment. Consequently, passing through a security check was mandatory to access floors above 12, as the patients being treated there were not ordinary individuals. They were either soldiers or members of the Battle Mages Alliance, warriors, or magicians, and their safety necessitated these measures.

With these thoughts in mind, Veer glanced at Lucky once again before embarking on his mission to navigate through the various rooms. Upon exiting Lucky's room, Veer noticed that the two police officers were still stationed by the door. Acknowledging them with a nod, Veer proceeded towards a distance where he spotted Lucky's parents. Lucky's father was consoling Lucky's mother, who was on the verge of tears. Veer approached them and addressed them, saying, "Uncle, Aunty, I'm going to talk to the doctor about the cost of Lucky's treatment."

"But you don't need to go there, Veer! I will go and find out the fee," Lucky's father insisted.

"No, Uncle, you take care of Aunty. I will find out if there is any possibility of curing Lucky quickly," Veer assured Lucky's father.

Upon hearing Veer's words, Lucky's father glanced at his wife, who was still in tears, and let out a sigh. Eventually, he agreed and said, "Alright, Veer. Go and find out the cost of the treatment and also ask the doctor about Lucky's estimated recovery time."

"Okay, Uncle. See you later," Veer replied.

With that, Veer made his way to the elevator and pressed the button for the 9th floor, indicating the floor with the corresponding lit button.

Just as Veer was about to step into the lift, a soft voice suddenly called out, halting someone's entry into the lift.

In response to the sound, Veer swiftly withdrew his hand from the lift, preventing it from closing. The lift came to a stop, revealing a girl who appeared to be around 18 years old. She was dressed in a blue top and black jeans, with black hair and an egg-shaped face that exuded undeniable attractiveness. Upon seeing her, one's heart rate would accelerate, and her fair, milky-white complexion added to her allure. Veer was left speechless in her presence.

Sensing Veer's captivated gaze, the girl felt a bit perplexed but didn't dwell on it for long. She smiled at Veer and expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you for holding the lift door open."

Upon being thanked by the girl, Veer walks towards her and says, "There's no need to thank me for just stopping the lift when you asked. It was a simple gesture." Veer's tone reflects a hint of confusion.

Curiously, the girl asks Veer, "By the way, where are you headed?"

"I'm going to meet Dr. Gaurav Saxena to inquire about the fees for my friend's treatment and how long it will take for him to regain consciousness," Veer responds, his voice softening. He then inquires, "What about you? Where are you going?"

The girl listens attentively to Veer's words and gazes at him. She replies, "I'm heading to the 13th floor because my grandfather is unwell. We were passing through this city when my grandfather's health suddenly deteriorated, necessitating our arrival here."

Veer expresses his wishes, saying, "Oh, I hope your grandfather recovers soon."

With a smile, the girl responds, "Thank you. I also hope that your friend gets well soon."

As Veer continues conversing with the girl, the lift's doors suddenly open, and an AI voice greets them, saying, "Welcome to the 9th floor."

As the elevator reached the 9th floor, Veer announced, "Well, this is my stop. If fate brings us together again, let's meet."

"Sure, until next time. By the way, what's your name?" the girl inquired with curiosity.

"My name is Veer. And what about you?" Veer replied, extending his hand for a handshake.

"I'm Ran," she said, shaking Veer's hand firmly. "Nice to meet you again, Veer." With that, the elevator doors closed automatically.

Veer watched as the elevator ascended towards the top floor. He let out a sigh, his mind racing with thoughts. "She's incredibly attractive, and I'm drawn to her way of speaking. Since the moment I laid eyes on her, I've been infatuated. It feels like love at first sight. But I must find a way to suppress this overwhelming passion and maintain our friendship," Veer pondered silently. Gathering his thoughts, he turned and made his way towards Dr. Gaurav Saxena's office room.
