"Ash, how do they know you're here?" I was done. I was done with the mysteries and the vague sense of threat, and the hushed conversations.

These people knew where I lived.

When I said his name in that tone, he raised his hands to soothe me. He'd closed the door on the bedroom, which at first felt completely normal—something he'd been doing for months. "Yeah. I'd just woken up in Arinel and Abigail was fussing and I was confused and you came in and almost caught me naked and… yeah. I remember. I thought it was a dream."
