Watching David's obvious expression of tension and desire and just the overwhelming nature of all this, I spluttered a laugh. But the truth was, I wasn't doing much better. When Stark appeared around the tree a moment later, frowning, I was still smoothing the front of my dress and trying to get my breathing under control.
"I'll return you to your Defender in a moment," he said quietly. "I've asked the King to ensure that he isn't seen emerging from the same thicket as you. We need to give him time to move to a different position before he's seen."
Oh great, so I get to sit here in the woods with Lord Stick-Up-His-Ass.
"That's fine," I sighed. I looked down at my hands that were warm from being on David's skin, and smiled.
"He is… focused on you," Stark growled.
