章 22: Chapter 22

"Geodude, Rollout,"

With this order from Bob, Geodude formed into a ball and sped forward.

He was out of the city in search of catching more pokémon.

"Hoppip," The pokémon, however, was able to see the rock coming and fired a burst of seeds.

Geodude groaned at the attack, being hurt with every shot.

"Larvitar, Rock Throw,"

While the grass-type focused on Geodude, it never noticed the other rock-type launching a boulder at it.

Hoppip took the attack head on, letting out a cry.

As it tried to recover, the grass-type was met with a runaway rock.

BASH!

This made it fly back, right into the trajectory of a pokéball.

Shake...

Shake...

Shake...

CLICK!

'Nice,' Bob thought, watching it vanish, "Nice work, you two,"

"Geo," Geodude smiled, giving a thumbs up to both Bob and Larvitar.

Larvitar, however, was not amused. She raised her head, watching out for any other pokémon.

'She's pretty serious,' Bob thought, looking down at the pokédex, 'there's the message of the transportation...now the description,'

"Hoppip, the cottonweed pokémon," The voice rang out, "it drifts and glides along gentle winds. If a strong wind approaches, Hoppip huddles up with other Hoppip in order to not get blown away,"

'Neat,' Bob thought, returning Geodude and Larvitar, 'though it was a grass-type, it was good experience for the both of them,'

'So now,' He continued to walk, 'Gym leader Bugsy...for the final fight I can use Dio, Guts, and Geodude. For the others? If there are any side trainers, I can use them,'

In a blink, a wild pokémon appeared.

"Pidgey," It squawked.

'Hmm,' Bob let out Geodude, "Rock Throw,"

"Dude," The rock-type flung a heavy rock at the Pidgey.

It was knocked out completely before it could even attack.

'Huh,' Bob thought, repeating the cycle.

This went on for a few hours, and the result was a depletion in the population of Pidgey. Even a few Pidgeotto were thrown into the mix.

'How did I not get bored at all?' Bob thought, walking back to Azalea Town, 'I feel like I want to train more,'

Although he did, Bob instead went to the Pokémart to purchase some consumables with the money that suddenly appeared in his endless bag.

After this leisure moment, he walked down streets and past buildings, looking for the infested building.

Until finally, he came across a building with the sign 'Azalea Town's Pokémon Gym' in big, light green letters.

'I must have some type of plot armor to find these gyms,' Bob walked to the doors of the giant building, 'then again, Ash has that premium type of plot armor,'

He entered the building, and was impressed with what he saw.

Several pots of plants stood in various places. Pictures and sculptures of bug-type pokémon could be seen from every angle.

When Bob walked forward, he noticed the green floor below him, creating the sounds of his footsteps.

There was going to be other trainers besides the leader, so Bob was on high alert as his footsteps would alert them.

Luckily, he spotted the first trainer before they could.

So he walked in his line of sight, and the trainer stopped him.

"Here to challenge the great Bugsy?" It was a boy, wearing dark green shorts and a sweater with a Scyther on the front.

Bob nodded.

"You know the drill then," Both trainers created space, and the boy launched his pokémon first into battle.

"Weedle!" It revealed itself.

'Huh,' Bob released his first pokémon.

"Spinarak!" Spinarak was ready to fight, however, he was a little terrified, but not so much.

This was it. The first wall of the bug castle.

"Weedle, String Shot!"

The bug-type was layered in silk, trying to get out.

'I almost forgot,' Bob was standing there the whole time, trying to think of something, "Spinarak, use Dig,"

He heeded this order, as the bug-type dug hurriedly under the ground, leaving Weedle in the dark.

"Don't falter, Weedle," The trainer said, as its black eyes scanned the ground around it.

'I wonder,' Bob thought, "Spinarak, attack your foe,"

Like a mole digging out of the ground, the bug-type emerged and bashed into Weedle.

"Quickly, Bug Bite," Weedle was able to recover and deliver a gruesome bite.

Even though it looked like nothing special, Spinarak still squealed as its apparent jaws dug into his green skin.

"Absorb,"

While he hopped back, green orbs seeped from Weedle and traveled to Spinarak.

"Weedle, Bug Bite!" The kid ordered.

Bob noticed how the enemy bug-type was trying not to faint, so he retaliated.

"Spinarak, Dig again, then attack,"

Before the Weedle could clamp its unreadable jaws again, Spinarak fled to the underworld...

...And arrived back all the same with an attack from directly below Weedle.

Spinarak's eyes left a small black trail as he landed and watched his fellow bug-type fall to unconscious.

"Good work, Spinarak," Bob said as he gave him a thumbs up.

The bug-type sighed, finally having a rest.

"Tch," The kid returned his Weedle and brought out his next pokémon.

It was a Caterpie.

'Huh,' Bob switched out Spinarak, 'Time for your first trainer battle, Larvitar,'

"Tar!" She called out, staring down her opponent with a straight face, ready for anything.

"Come on, Caterpie," The enemy trainer shouted, "Attack with Bug Bite,"

"Cater..." The bug-type rushed forward in a rhythmic way, readying its small fangs.

"Larvitar, Payback," Bob ordered.

"Lar," The rock-type replied, emitting a dark aura that begun to cloud around her body.

A few seconds later, Caterpie pounced forward and bit Larvitar on her chest.

The only response from Larvitar was her eyes, stabbing daggers at the bug-type with a slight pinch of disappointment.

Bob and the enemy trainer watched as the rock-type grabbed Caterpie, lifting it up, and slamming it with force into the ground.

There were a few vibrations before the Caterpie was found to be out of the battle.

While the boy returned Caterpie with a dazed expression, Larvitar gave Bob a look of disgust, as if to tell him to not give her such weak foes.

'Guess she and Madara have something in common,' Bob thought, returning her, 'they both dislike weakness,'

'Alright, I remember that for next time,' Bob thought, eyeing the next pokémon.

"Ledyba," It hummed, floating in the air.

'Hmm,' Bob smirked, lobbing a pokéball.

"Geodude," Geodude said, smashing his fists together, eyeing the bug-type before it.

"Ledyba, Swift,"

The bug-type sent a few shooting stars towards Geodude.

"Defense Curl,"

The rock-type held up its arms in a tight guard.

BASH!

BASH!

"Geo..." He was thrown around like a pinball, some of the stars spinning him around.

When the attack ended, Geodude had to take a moment as he was not facing his opponent.

However, Bob was thinking up a plan.

"Geodude," He said, "use Defense Curl, and remember Falkner,"

The rock-type looked at Bob with an eyebrow raised, but a second later, he understood, as if a lightbulb lit up in his head.

'Geodude's slow,' Bob thought, 'but he is smart,'

"Falkner, huh?" The boy questioned, "Bugsy's better. Use Swift again, Ledyba!"

Just like that, more projectiles clobbered the rock-type.

Although it was taking a toll on him, Geodude had other things in mind.

With every attack, the rock-type floated to the left, and let each star scrape his right.

This allowed him to gradually spin, like a planet on it's axis.

When it felt fast enough, Geodude lowered to the ground, kickstarting a roll.

The boy had realised too late.

Geodude was rolling.

BOOM!

Ledyba may have been hating, but it took only the first roll to effectively shut down the bug-type.

'That actually worked,' Bob was feeling good, 'neat,'

"Geo," The rock-type gave Bob a thumbs up.

"Good work," He returned it.

"Tch," The boy sighed, returning his Ledyba, "just go and lose to Bugsy already,"

The kid walked away.

'That was alright,' Bob thought, returning Geodude and walking forward, 'I should walk into another now,'

Just then, he felt dread and found the stare of a trainer.

'Bingo,'
